Welcome Back Batch of 2018-20

With the advent of June, everyone begins to anticipate fresh students, some new teachers, a revised version of teaching methodology and a renewed zeal and zest.

Batch of 2018-20 students returned back to college and they were warmly welcomed by the CHRIST fraternity on 10th June 2019. The forlorn look in the corridors was transformed into a buzzing ground, as students and teachers exchanged pleasantries and shared their experience during the holidays. The students were smartly dressed in business formals and looked professional as they begin a new session with hopes in their hearts and dreams in their eyes.

The entire campus came alive with students catching up with each other. They could be seen intermingling with each other. Their conversations were about the recent SIP experience, their ambitions about a promising future and a rejuvenated spirit which radiated exuberance.

The solemn ceremony began with seeking the blessings of the divine after lighting the lamp. It was followed by Academics Coordinator, Dr Fr Arun Anthony reading out a prayer. Then some selected verses from holy scriptures were read out. The event was anchored efficiently by Ms Arpita Ghosh.

Director and Dean, Christ (Deemed to be University), Lavasa, Dr Fr Jossy P George addressed the Batch of 2018-20 students as they are all set to restart the journey undertaken last year with renewed energy. He said that it is the right time to ponder over ways and means of making their stay fruitful and enriching. In doing so they ought to prepare for a bright and successful future ahead.

Director, Fr Jossy George reminded the students to be mindful and warned them of a yawning gap between what the students think about their caliber and what is expected from them by the corporate sector.

Fr Jossy shared his hopes, dreams, ambitions and ideas through a thought provoking presentation on finding ways and means to bridge the skills gap. At the outset it is pertinent to find out their potential and then find a suitable method to fulfil the cherished dream. He motivated them to work hard diligently and with perfection while focusing on minute details. The need of the hour is to remember that dedication and perseverance is of paramount importance.

Director, Fr Jossy articulated with pride that his team of efficient and skilled faculty will work in tandem with the students to prepare them for the work force. Hence team work, spoken and written communication, hands on training and problem solving ability, specially through research, will be of tremendous help. He motivated the students to be proactive and begin pronto.

He informed that the students are expected to do CIS based on a research project as part of their curriculum during their 4-6 trimesters. Apart from this the mandatory industry visit will provide inferential learning bridging the gap between academia and management practice. It will eventually improve their critical problem solving skills and develop inter personal skills which are required to excel in their chosen career.

With the advent of technology in the classroom, Fr Jossy inspired the students to take technical help and create individual websites and make video resumes for an impressive impact. According to Director, Fr Jossy George a changed attitude can bring positive results and the Batch of 2018-20 can be excellent role models and trend setters for the upcoming batches. The skills which they need to inculcate and nurture are a sense of integrity, have core domain knowledge, better aptitude and strong communication skills as the college prepares them to be ready for the industry.

He advised them to take help and guidance from CRM, Mr JK Pandey as every effort is being made to have student driven corporate interaction for better placements. Fr Jossy aptly mentioned that holistic education would be given a lot of emphasis to develop inter personal and societal skills.

The motivational and inspirational presentation ended with Fr Jossy wishing them all the best as the students begin a journey of transformation through proactive practices and gap identification. He ardently wished that they should turn out to be the best alumni among all the campuses. It is indeed a pleasure to have the students back in the campus and everyone is looking forward to welcoming the new students shortly.
