Pirate’s Bay - Treasure Hunt

Pirate’s Bay, a treasure hunt event was conducted by the Department of Data Science as part of welcoming the freshers. More than 240 students took part in this event. This event challenged the students on a physical and academic level. Organised by the senior students, the event’s aim was to get the students to know each other more and also to get to know about the college environment.

The event started off with an interactive quiz on the Kahoot platform. Students were given coding, mathematical, current affairs and other trivia questions. The first to answer received a relatively higher score. At the end of the quiz, the top two teams from every class were given a headstart with the first clue. This marked the beginning of the second round, the scavenger hunt-QR code round. This round was also an elimination round as the number of teams was brought down from 50 to 9 teams. The round consisted of images and QR codes which lead to locations one after another and the teams had to crack the images and reach the location to take a selfie with a volunteer who was assigned there. The final teams had to get their selfies verified by one of the organizers and after the verification, they were allowed to qualify for the final round. The third and final round was the treasure hunt round where the top 12 teams ran behind clues searching for the treasure. The clues were given in the form of riddles, ASCII code and quotes. Students who participated gave positive feedback and shared their experiences.

The first round was extremely engaging and acted as an icebreaker session for the teammates. The teams got to work together and coordinated very well amongst themselves. The second round tested the coordination of the teams to its extreme and forced them to work together and communicate in an extremely fast paced environment. The third round tested the teams for everything they had - team spirit, communications, intelligence and team persistence.
