A SESSION ON ‘OVERVIEW OF GST’

The Finance Club (Harmoney) of the School of Business and Management (MBA) organizes a session on 'Overview of GST' on 25th March 2022 from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus. 


This finance club activity aimed at enhancing the knowledge of the students on Goods and Services Tax, the indirect tax system adopted in India after 1st July 2017. The speaker aimed to update the students regarding the purpose, structure, tax rates, recent developments, and challenges with respect to the tax regime.


Finance club harmony had its 4thevent on 25th March 2022, where Dr S Parameswaran delivered a lecture regarding GOODS AND SERVICES TAX. The activity commenced at 2:30 PM in the presence of Professor Mohit Boralkar, Professor Danish Hussain and all the finance specialization students. Dr Parameswaran covered various aspects related to GST such that were as follows:
  • Direct Tax and Indirect Tax.
  • Tax Evasion
  • Cascading Effect.
  • Introduction to GST- Brief History and Purpose of Introducing GST in India (Problems with past tax regimes)
  • Advantages of implementing GST. (Share of Central and State government in GST)
  • Goods and Services covered under GST
  • Challenges faced by GST in other countries and India.
  • GST Council and its various members.
  • Responsibilities of GST council.
The speaker also discussed the taxes that were abolished before implementing GST, like Sales Tax and Value Added Tax.


The session was interactive, focusing on the terms related to the Goods and Services Tax and various other aspects of GST. Students were able to clarify their fundamental understanding and concepts, and the session was very informative as Dr Parameswaran explained the concepts using various examples.

PANEL DISCUSSION ON LEADERSHIP & ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT SKILLS

The School of Commerce, Finance and Accountancy organized a "Panel Discussion on Leadership and Entrepreneurship Development Skill " on 4th March 2022 at 1:30 PM at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus.   Ms Ayushi Chandna student of 6 BCom (Financial Analytics) commenced the session with silent prayer & briefed about the Panel Discussion. The Third International Conference on Data Science, Computation and Security (IDSCS-22) hosted by CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus in association with Springer from 11th to 12th February 2022. The conference was conducted online with participants from all across the globe. The conference commenced with the inauguration ceremony at 9:30 AM.
