OBT on Leadership Skills & Team Cohesion

The Department of Languages, under the School of Arts and Humanities at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus, successfully organized a Management Development Programme (MDP) aimed at enhancing leadership skills and team cohesion. Designed as a two-phase initiative, the programme combined experiential learning with digital education, providing participants with a well-rounded developmental experience.

The first phase, an Outbound Training Programme, took place on the 3rd and 4th of February 2025 at Sunny’s World, Pune, starting at 10:00 AM each day. The sessions were facilitated by Michelle Pinto, an experienced leadership development expert, and Naived George Eapen, an Assistant Professor. The training incorporated an array of interactive activities, reflective exercises, role-playing, and team-building tasks, all designed to develop leadership potential in a dynamic and engaging environment. Participants were encouraged to explore various leadership styles, enhance their communication skills, and build problem-solving capabilities. The exercises emphasized real-world scenarios where leadership and teamwork were crucial, allowing attendees to apply their learning in practical settings. Moreover, trust-building activities reinforced the importance of collaboration in leadership, while conflict-resolution strategies equipped participants with tools to handle workplace challenges effectively. By the end of the outbound training, the participants had gained a deeper understanding of constructivist and behaviorist learning approaches, fostering a mindset geared towards solution-oriented leadership.

Following the outbound training, the programme transitioned into its second phase, an online module titled "User Awareness and Education on Generative AI," held from 5th to 8th February 2025. This component, offered through Coursera, provided participants with foundational knowledge of Generative AI, its applications, and ethical considerations. The module explored the growing influence of AI in various fields, highlighting its potential to transform education, business, and creative industries. Participants learned about AI-driven content generation, its role in enhancing productivity, and ethical concerns such as bias and misinformation. Practical exercises allowed attendees to engage with AI tools, fostering an understanding of how digital transformation is shaping modern workplaces.

The combination of the outbound training and the AI module created a comprehensive learning experience, equipping participants with both traditional leadership skills and contemporary digital competencies. The programme attracted a diverse group of learners, fostering a dynamic exchange of ideas and perspectives. Feedback from participants highlighted the effectiveness of experiential learning in reinforcing leadership concepts and the relevance of AI education in today’s rapidly evolving technological landscape. Many expressed appreciation for the opportunity to develop their critical thinking, strategic planning, and team-building abilities through an interactive and structured curriculum.

Overall, the Management Development Programme successfully met its objectives of enhancing leadership qualities, fostering teamwork, and promoting digital literacy. By blending hands-on training with emerging AI trends, the programme provided participants with the necessary tools to navigate and lead in the modern professional landscape. The initiative reaffirmed CHRIST University’s commitment to innovative and impactful education, ensuring that learners are well-prepared for leadership roles in a rapidly changing world.
