Industrial Visit to Infosys BPM (Business Process Management), Pune
Education at CHRIST is not limited to mere text books rather it
transcends from the corporate talks and practical hands-on training and
moves on to Holistic Education. The visit to Infosys BPM, Pune was an
enriching experience altogether for all HR major and minor students as
they got a meaningful insight into HR practices being followed in
Infosys.
As part of a holistic approach towards education, students of Human Resource Department, accompanied by Dr Neena PC, HOD, HR and Counselor, Ms Arpita Ghosh went to Infosys BPM Ltd, Pune on 18th July 2019. The agenda behind the visit was to understand the culture of Infosys BPM Ltd, to enlighten the students about their HR practices and give them a meaningful insight into the corporate world.
There was an orientation session by Ms Srilata Nair, Senior Lead - Employee Relations about Infosys. The focus of the orientation was on the journey of Infosys. She also explained the concept of employee life cycle, employee engagement etc.
The introduction was followed by a team building activity. Students were asked to build a pyramid out of certain pieces. The activity tested their swiftness, their coordination, when they tried to sync with each other and above all their strategies. Matters pertaining to HR were chiefly discussed and they provided future prospects for the students.
The orientation session for students was followed by a presentation on values of Infosys 'C-LIFE' by Mr. Mukesh, Business Unit HR Head (HR Business Manager). The emphasis was on Client Value, Leadership, Integrity and Transparency apart from Fairness and Excellence.
There was a session by Mr. Clifford Mohan Pai, Vice President, HR, Business Leader and Head - Employee Relations, Infosys BPM Limited, post lunch during which he shared some programs which are implemented and followed by Infosys for retaining and engaging employees. He asked the students to have their basics strong rather follow the recent FAD trend. He also spoke about the changing role of HR as a strategic business partner. Some other programs discussed were Gurucool, Idea & You, Geo Ambassador, Buddy program, Meet your leader and Speed Lead.
Some of the important policies of Infosys such as Whistle blower policy, HEAR (Hearing Employees and Resolving), ASHI (Anti Sexual Harassment Initiative) and Information security policy were also discussed.
Then the students went for a campus tour and they were highly impressed by the well-equipped board room and the ambience. Most of them aspire to work at Infosys. The students noticed a self-sustainable environment. They had hopes in their hearts and dreams in their eyes as they bid good bye to the Infosys team and expressed their gratitude for an eventful day.
