Jibrael Jos had an interactive workshop with B Sc (Data Science) students on 15th and 16th
July 2019 at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Lavasa. The two-day fun filled
but highly educational workshop was amazing. The students sat on the floor and
moved around comfortably while performing multiple roles. On the second day
they moved to the auditorium for a creative presentation. Since his area of
expertise is programming so he changed the session from CUFE plan for Data
Science students. The students also presented their vision and plan for three
years on the second day.
The first program was `Sociometry and Freeze’ and it
was based on Graduate Attributes such as Ability to take Decision, Accept Change, Accept Direction, Attendance and Punctuality,
Attitude, Compliance with Rules and how it affects Quality of Work, Cooperation
and Team Player, Dependability, being Effective Under Stress, taking Initiative
and showing leadership skills by Accepting Onus for one’s actions which in turn
leads to overall Growth and Learning.
The next program was individual in nature and focused
on Self-Introspection and Self
Belief Sharing. The students felt that music acts as a therapeutic
balm and helped them to feel relaxed and comfortable while doing the activity.
The main objective was to
provide a two-day induction experience to help accelerate academic and personal
growth and to support in creating an environment of learning and working as a
group. The themes were meticulously based on Bonding, Team Work,
Self-Management, Creative Expression, and Planning. It was an intervention to
bring new students together as a bonded and motivated group. The entire process
uses a non-classroom approach, ensuring an experiential learning of teamwork
and self-management using a collage of theatre, expression, writing and art.
All sessions were activity based and the students had a great time in discovering
themselves and learnt to work in teams.
The
overall advantage was that it helped the students know each other well, it
instilled in them belief in oneself while they worked as a team. It was an
excellent way to identify leaders and those who could take onus for their
decisions and actions. The students were able to appreciate importance of
creativity and enthusiasm and above all it made them appreciate each other’s
positivity.
The entire program centered around the Vision and
Mission which CHRIST upholds.
