Industrial Visits Arranged For PGDM Final Year Students

PGDM students of Christ Institute of Management, Lavasa got an opportunity to visit two manufacturing units near Pune on Wednesday,21st August 2019. They were escorted by CRM, JK Pandey and Dr Dilip Nandkeolyar.
An industrial visit is a part of PGDM course during which the students visit a company to get an insight into its internal working environment. Such visits have a lot of importance for students as they give them a solid foundation to gain real-world information. The students come to know how theoretical ideas are put into practice. In doing so they are exposed to work methodology, employment practice of a company etc. The main objective of such industrial visit is to provide students the feel of the actual working environment and to gain practical knowledge and skills, which in turn motivates, develops and builds their confidence.
The students went to Coca-Cola Bottling Plant in Pirangut, Pune. They were received by factory HR Manager, Mr Pravin Dadasaheb Jadhav. At the outset the students were briefed about the rules and regulations to be followed in the factory premises through a video at the entrance. Thereafter the students were made to wear caps as a precautionary measure.

They were informed about the general functioning of the bottling plant, its maintenance and CSR activity undertaken by the company. The inquisitive students asked some pertinent questions and the queries were resolved satisfactorily.

The HR and Finance specialization students returned back to Lavasa after visiting Coca Cola Plant whereas Marketing specialization students went to Indo Schottle Auto Parts Pvt Ltd, Urvade, Pune. The Marketing students were welcomed by Ms Sugandha Taneja, HR representative and Mr Yougesh Nevarekar, ISAP. After the initial briefing the students were taken around the factory and they saw the process of manufacturing precision parts which are sent all over the world especially to USA, UK and China.

The students got greater clarity about some significant management ideas. They felt that the visit also helped them to understand the importance of interpersonal skills and communication techniques. They became mindful of industry practices and regulations during this industry visit. The visit gave them an overview of the practical challenges that an organisation faces in the business world.
The students also felt that they got a greater clarity about various practical concepts. So this industrial visit offered a practical perspective about an industry and it was indeed a great learning experience for the students. The industrial visits were efficiently coordinated by CRM, JK Pandey.
