Alumni Interaction Session

The School of Commerce, Finance & Accountancy, in collaboration with the Office of Alumni Engagement, organized an enriching and insightful Alumni Interaction Session aimed at fostering deeper engagement between current students and the institution’s alumni community. The event was meticulously coordinated under the guidance of Dr. Mahesh Kumar T, whose leadership ensured that the session was aligned with the university’s commitment to academic excellence and holistic student development. The smooth facilitation of the program was made possible through the active support of dedicated student volunteers, who played a vital role in handling logistics, audience coordination, and creating an inviting environment for meaningful dialogue.

The core purpose of the interaction was to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world industry expectations. In today’s dynamic employment landscape, exposure to practical insights and firsthand professional experiences is indispensable. Recognizing this need, the department curated this session to provide students with a platform to engage with accomplished alumni who have successfully transitioned into the corporate world. Such interactions not only offer clarity regarding industry trends but also serve as a source of inspiration, empowering students to visualize their future career paths with greater confidence.

The invited speaker for the session was Ms. Mehreen Ashfaque Sayed, an esteemed alumna of the department and currently serving as Executive – Revenue Management at AmberStudent, Pune. Bringing with her a wealth of industry experience, Ms. Mehreen shared a comprehensive account of her professional journey, beginning from her undergraduate years to her current role in the competitive field of revenue management. Her narrative was enriched with personal anecdotes, challenges she navigated, and the transformative experiences that shaped her growth. Through these stories, students gained valuable insights into the realities of transitioning from academic life to the demanding yet rewarding corporate environment.

Ms. Mehreen elaborated on the rapidly evolving nature of revenue management, emphasizing how technological advancements, market patterns, and consumer behavior contribute to shaping business decisions. She highlighted the essential skill sets required to excel in the field, including analytical thinking, data interpretation, strategic planning, and an ability to respond swiftly to changing trends. Additionally, she emphasized the need for adaptability, resilience, and a continuous learning mindset—qualities that define successful professionals in any domain.

A significant portion of her presentation was dedicated to explaining how students can leverage their academic knowledge and classroom learning in real-time industry situations. She encouraged students to focus on developing strong communication skills, maintaining professional etiquette, and cultivating a proactive approach toward personal growth and skill enhancement. Ms. Mehreen also addressed the importance of internships, certifications, and supplementary courses that help improve employability, thereby motivating students to invest in skill-building beyond the curriculum.

The interactive segment of the session allowed students to engage directly with the speaker, ask questions, and seek guidance on various aspects of career planning, job preparation, and industry readiness. Students showed great enthusiasm, posing thoughtful questions related to corporate expectations, revenue management as a career path, and ways to stand out in the competitive job market. Ms. Mehreen responded with practical, experience-based advice that students found both encouraging and insightful. Many participants expressed that the session helped them gain clarity about their future aspirations and instilled a renewed sense of determination to pursue their goals.
