Guest Lecture on ‘Training in Mediation and Negotiation’

The School of Law, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus under the guidance of Dr Daisy Alexander, Professor, and Head of Department, School of Law, organised the guest lecture titled ‘Training in Mediation and Negotiation’ by Adv Harsh Buch.

The School of Law organized a program on Training in Mediation and Negotiation to facilitate the students. Mediation is one point along a continuum of problem-solving approaches a lawyer should consider in offering legal services to his clients. It develops skills to find commercially viable solutions and inspires students to focus on commercial motivation, bargaining, effective listening, communication, and human psychology. It is an alternative form of dispute resolution.

The Training on Mediation and Negotiation was facilitated by Adv Harsh Buch, Senior Associate of MZM Legal with expertise in Maritime Law. He was also joined later by Adv Vikram Kamath, Senior Associate, Phoenix Legal, Mumbai.

The prime focus of the Lecture was to train the students of First Year with the techniques and understanding of Mediation and Negotiation as a method of dispute resolution. As part of this lecture, Adv Harsh Buch shared unnamed client examples for the students to have a clear approach to all and create relatable situations to apply the law. Adv Vikram added to the insights shared by Adv Harsh and he also shed some light on the Maritime Time Laws.

The welcome address was delivered by Dr Daisy Alexander, Professor and Head of Department, School of Law, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus. The vote of thanks was extended by Ms Merin, Student of First Semester BA LLB(H), School of Law, on behalf of the entire School of Law.
