SEMINAR ON THE ROLE OF THE UNITED NATIONS IN A CHANGING WORLD
The International Relation and Foreign Policy Committee of the Student Bar Association of the School of Law, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus organized a seminar on the Role of United Nations in a Changing World.
The Seminar was to celebrate the United Nations Day which is celebrated all over the world on 24th October 2021 The Seminar was conceptualized by the Faculty member Dr Sunil John under the guidance of the Head of the Department Prof Dr Daisy Alexander. The Seminar began at 3:15 PM on Sunday, 24th October 2021. The event commenced with the introductory remarks by Fr Dr Jossy P George. Dr Daisy Alexander welcomed the guest speakers Clement Amponsah from Ghana who is a researcher at the University of Oxford and Ms Mariangela Barletta, a Researcher in Public, Comparative and International Law at the Sapienza University of Rome. Ms Teresa Joseph introduced the speakers to the participants. The seminar consisted of talks by the Guest speakers. Ms Mariangela spoke about the response of the United Nations to gender discrimination and the growing disparity between the economic positions of men and women especially after the pandemic. Clement spoke on the United Nations' response to the global environment, Climate change, and water stress. He also spoke about COP 26 going to be held in Glasgow and the need for sustainable development as mentioned the SDG goals.
The faculty members and the students who suggested that more such events should be organized in the future appreciated the event. The meeting was held on the Zoom platform.
