One-Week Leadership Program

The School of Business and Management (BBA), CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa campus organized a one-week leadership program from 27th September to 3rd October 2021.


On the inaugural day, a panel consisting of Dr Amalesh Bhowal, Professor, Assam University, Dr Naveen Das, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Adamas University, Kolkata, and Mr Rajesh Dhariya, CEO, APSS Media deliberated on the topic “Sailing smoothly in new normal: Leadership challenges” under the moderation of Dr Parameswaran S, Program Coordinator of the BBA (Business Analytics). Dr Sumitra Binu delivered a preamble for the session -leading from the front. Panelists shared difficulties and challenges faced in the academic and the corporate forefront during the pandemic time. Panelist also highlighted the role of virtual leadership as virtual work has grown in popularity and collaboration through regular communication, transparency, and accountability. Departmental newsletter “The Convergence” was released during the inaugural session. The panel discussion was followed by the webinar by Mr Aniruddha Ganguly, Founder, EuMatter Consulting. It highlighted on the importance of building trust and respect in the organisation.

On the second day, Ms Pooja Menon, Assistant Vice President - Digital Marketing at Kotak Life, expressed different types of conflicts and their resolutions. She clarified about how one can avoid conflicts and insisted on bringing the positive result in which both the conflicting parties are satisfied.


On the third day, Mr Laxminarayan, Founder, MyShiksha debated the importance of consultants and explained the various ways in problem-solving. He expounded on the split-brain theory using left and right-brained approaches to problem-solving.

On the fourth day, Dr Biraj Hazarika, Senior HR Manager, Oil India Ltd., described the importance of mentoring and coaching to improve employee performance. He elaborated on the different tools and techniques required to be adopted along with GROW model for coaching.


The fifth day of the leadership week was all about dealing with change. Speakers Ms Padmaja Alaganandan, Chief People Officer, and Ms Ranjini Director at PwC India justified the crux of the concept of change. According to Dr Ranjini, adapting to change requires following standard methodology where every individual’s interests, concerns, and fears are kept in mind and critical positive aspects which derive the change are taken into consideration. The session as a whole was a great insight for the budding leaders in the form of students to understand the concept of change, the ways they can derive the change by keeping in mind all the indispensable factors and at the end accept the change themselves and also help their counterparts through the process of change.

On the last day Ms Darishinee Balasingam Senior HR Manager, Private Medical Centre (Klinik Penawar Negeri Sembilan), Malaysia emphasized on the challenges faced by virtual leadership. She highlighted the expectations versus the reality of virtual leadership and leadership criteria for a high-performance virtual team.

To conclude, these sessions during the leadership week were extremely insightful, knowledgeable, and of great help to all the participants who attended the program.
