Symposium On Career opportunities in the area of Financial Analytics

“Success is not final, Failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that count”. A note that encourages each individual to strive better in their lives and accomplish whatever comes their way.

Symposium 2021 was an event held for the students of the first and final year of the School of Commerce, Finance & Accountancy on 24 September 2021 from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM in CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus. The program was fully-fledged organized by the Department of Commerce channelizing the career opportunities in the area of financial analytics. The workshop started with the welcome address by the emcee. The Head of Department Dr Vandana Bhagat was called upon to welcome the guest speakers and the gathering. The gathering was thrilled and excited to hear from the HOD of the Commerce Department.


Followed by the welcome speech, the first guest speaker was introduced by the emcee. The first guest speaker for the workshop was Mr Laxminarayanan G is the Global Delivery Head and Sr VP of Polestar Solutions. Sir is an experienced management consultant with extensive experience in providing AI and analytics consulting to many Fortune 500 companies over the last 15 years. He has played leadership roles in various firms including Deloitte and PwC. He is a management graduate from IIM Lucknow with a Post Graduate Diploma in AI/Machine Learning from IIIT Bangalore. He is also a visiting faculty in IIM Kolkata and IIM Lucknow engaged in teaching modern-day tools and techniques for students. He is an avid speaker at different industry forums and a regular guide to several MSMEs.



The one-hour session gave us insights into the fields which include data as the main core element of functioning. Sir gave us the techniques which could be used while applying in the field of financial analytics and the industry corporates. Sir has specialized in the field of visualizations and hence he gave us views on how we can fill in for opportunities in the field of advanced analytics and visualization. ‘GIGO’ is very well known as Garbage In and Garbage Out was a new concept for all the students to understand.

The second guest speaker for the event was Mr Aswini Bajaj. Mr Aswini Bajaj, CEO | Leveraged Growth: Advisory | Consulting | Training | L&D Sir is a BCom graduate from St Xavier’s College, Kolkata. The degrees we aim for, sir has rightfully accomplished most of them such as CA, CS, CFA, FRM, CAIA, CIPM, CFP, CCRA, CIIB, CIRA & AIM. He is a Guest

Lecturer at various Stock Exchanges, Colleges, and B-Schools in India, including all major IITs & IIMs. He is a Corporate Coach at TATA Interactive Systems, Volvo-Eicher Motors, Century Ply, Grasim, GRSE, Quaker Chemicals. Sir is also a financial trainer to thousands of professionals globally for CFA, FRM, CA & Financial Modelling. Sir has also been awarded the Best Finance Trainer in India - by the India Education Awards, 2019.  

 
Sir gave us very natural and practical feedback while applying for the fields such as finance and analytics as a specialization for the same. He displayed videos portraying how an individual can crack interviews quickly and how can one easily get employed. The concept of social dilemma which restricts a lot of people from achieving what they want, helped us understand the importance of breaking the comfort zone and making new histories.

Hence the event concluded by a vote of thanks by the event organizer, Dr R Gunavathi, Assistant Professor, Christ Deemed to be University, Lavasa. It was yet another successful event that could not have been achieved without the support of the Dean and Director of the Institution Dr Fr Jossy P George, Academic Coordinator Dr Fr Arun Antony, Head of the Department Dr Vandana Bhagat, the event coordinator  Dr R Gunavathi and the students for the constant encouragement.

It was indeed a successful event and all the students will be looking forward to more such events, which provide the knowledge and the correct guidance for the future.
