Perhaps the one thing that most of the world has in common is the unfortunate reality of womanhood being dismissed, undervalued, and even shamed. Despite so much progress in terms of technology and science and jurisprudence, this misogynistic and sexist attitude remains vastly unchecked. In most countries, women’s struggles in the form of unpaid labour in households, maternity, societal pressures are not spoken about often enough, nor is the complex reality of womanhood untangled sufficiently to render them basic human rights. Cis and trans women have historically been subject to all sorts of violence in similar and different ways, but all of it has been violence and disrespect all the same. Women’s day is celebrated internationally with the aim to spread awareness about all the intricacies of womanhood such that every woman gets the reverence they deserve. The Department of Data Science in association with Women in Big Data organized an event called “You Create, Divas” on 6th March 2023 to celebrate International Women’s Day with a focus on the theme “Waste to Wealth”. The event aimed to encourage creativity and innovative thinking by challenging participants to come up with unique and practical ideas for using waste materials to create new products. Women in Big Data is a global volunteer-driven organization with a mission to cultivate tangible opportunities for women, unlock latent potential through accessible training, act as a catalyst for advancement with thought leadership promotion, and empower equity allies of any gender with inclusive mentorship. The organization aims to encourage and attract women to the big data analytics field and help them connect, engage and grow. The event was mainly focused on the objective to provide Public Awareness on the topics of “Good Touch & Bad Touch”,” Water & Electricity” , and “ Cleanliness”. There were around 30- 35 local resident students of Lavasa from the age group of 5 – 15 years. Good touch, bad touch was a public awareness campaign that aims to educate children about the importance of healthy physical boundaries and the difference between appropriate and inappropriate physical contact. The goal of the campaign was to empower children to understand and communicate their boundaries. It was an interactive session with the children, for some students it was difficult to make them understand as it was a sensitive topic. Educating students about the good and Bad Touches was super hard. With the help of our volunteer team, we managed to give them some insight into it. Department of Data Science and Data Science Association(DSA) Organised Ignition 2023. It was an open-for-all, brainstorming event, where individuals from different backgrounds, skills and interests converge to diagnose problems in relevant domains. The participants had to identify the most pertinent societal opportunities and ideate the most viable solution. The idea submission had to be made by the 20th of February. The preliminary round presentation of the submitted idea happened on 22nd February 2023 at the Central Block Auditorium. The top 5 participants were then given an opportunity to present their idea on 28th February, National Science Day. It was a team building and integrity event where individuals with different skills and interests get a platform to showcase the same. At the core, the event aimed at being fun filled and frivolous in nature. It was an intra-department sports event which included Hard Core Sport Events: Football, Badminton and Box Cricket, and High Intensity Lively Sport Events: Dodgeball, Kho-Kho and Tug of War. Football and Dodgeball matches took place on 13th February, Badminton and Kho-kho matches happened on 15th February and Box Cricket and Tug of War matches were on 16th February. Legal aid to the poor and weak is necessary for the preservation of rule of law which is necessary for the existence of the orderly society. Until and unless poor illiterate man is not legally assisted, he is denied equality in the opportunity to seek justice. Therefore as a step towards making the legal service serve the poor and the deprived; the judiciary has taken active interest in providing legal aid to the needy in the recent past. The Indian Constitution provides for an independent and impartial judiciary and the courts are given power to protect the constitution and safeguard the rights of people irrespective of their financial status.
