Aptitude Training by Anand Kulkarni

The Aptitude Training Session aimed at strengthening students’ quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning, verbal ability, analytical thinking, and test-taking skills required for contemporary corporate recruitment processes. The session was designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and the practical competencies expected during competitive aptitude and placement examinations.

The training session was facilitated by Mr. Anand Kulkarni, Professional Aptitude Trainer and Business Leader, who brought extensive industry experience in business strategy, execution, commercial management, business development, technology-driven transformation, and organisational leadership. His professional experience across multi-country and multi-product business environments enabled students to understand aptitude not merely as an examination requirement, but as an important component of structured problem-solving and managerial decision-making.

From Fundamentals to Faster Problem-Solving

The session commenced with a focus on the foundational frameworks of quantitative, logical, and verbal reasoning. Through structured diagnostic problem-solving exercises, students were encouraged to identify their existing competency levels and recognise areas requiring further improvement.

A major emphasis was placed on speed and accuracy, two critical parameters in corporate aptitude examinations. Mr. Kulkarni introduced students to practical calculation shortcuts, deduction techniques, elimination strategies, and systematic approaches that can help candidates manage questions more effectively within limited examination time.

The hands-on nature of the session encouraged students to move beyond passive learning. Practice worksheets and problem-solving exercises provided opportunities for students to immediately apply the concepts and strategies discussed during the training.

Developing Analytical and Data Interpretation Skills

The programme also addressed the increasing importance of data interpretation and analytical reasoning in recruitment assessments. Students worked with complex charts, numerical information, and multi-variable analytical problems designed to develop their ability to identify patterns, interpret information, and arrive at logical conclusions.

Collaborative case-based drills added an experiential dimension to the programme. Students were encouraged to discuss alternative approaches, compare solution strategies, and understand how the same problem could be approached through different analytical pathways.

Mastering the Test Environment

Another significant component of the training was test-taking strategy and time management. Students were introduced to the importance of prioritising questions, allocating time according to difficulty levels, avoiding unnecessary calculation, and maintaining accuracy under examination pressure.

Simulated timed assessments enabled participants to experience a recruitment-test environment and reflect on their individual performance. Rather than focusing solely on the final score, the exercises encouraged students to analyse their approach to questions, identify time-consuming areas, and develop personalised strategies for future assessments.

Industry Perspective on Employability

Drawing from his experience as a business leader, Mr. Kulkarni connected aptitude skills with broader workplace competencies. His professional exposure to strategy, execution, commercial metrics, business development, technology in business, process re-engineering, operational efficiency, and people management provided students with an industry-oriented perspective on why analytical and decision-making capabilities matter beyond recruitment examinations.

The interaction highlighted that corporate readiness requires more than subject knowledge. The ability to analyse information, think logically, solve problems efficiently, communicate clearly, and make decisions within constraints forms an important foundation for professional success.

Assessing Readiness for Corporate Recruitment

The programme concluded with an emphasis on individual competency benchmarking. Students were encouraged to use their performance in diagnostic exercises and simulated assessments to understand their current readiness levels and formulate focused preparation plans.
