Trek to Linghya Ghat Waterfalls

On 2 October 2026, The Readers Club, in association with The Trekkers Club and the Library and Information Center, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Lavasa Campus, organized an exciting trek to Lingya Ghat Waterfall as part of its student engagement and team-building initiatives for the academic year 2026–27. The event aimed to encourage interaction, promote physical and mental well-being, foster teamwork, and nurture appreciation for nature beyond the academic environment.

The journey commenced from the Central Block at 10:30 AM, with 43 students accompanied by two faculty coordinators, Mr. Alanso Mathew and Mr. Santosh Ankush. The enthusiastic participants travelled to Dhaman Oval Gaon, the starting point of the trek, anticipating a refreshing outdoor experience filled with adventure, exploration, and camaraderie.

Upon reaching the village, the group received essential safety instructions and environmental guidelines from Mr. Alanso of The Trekkers Club. Participants were briefed on following the designated trail, maintaining group coordination, respecting the natural surroundings, and ensuring personal safety throughout the journey. These instructions emphasized responsible trekking, environmental awareness, and collective responsibility.

The group then began the trek towards Lingya Ghat Waterfall. After an approximately 50-minute walk through the scenic natural landscape, participants reached the waterfall and enjoyed its tranquil atmosphere and surrounding beauty. The group spent nearly two hours at the destination, relaxing, interacting with fellow students, appreciating nature, and creating memorable experiences together. The trek offered a welcome break from regular academic routines while encouraging physical activity and strengthening relationships in an informal setting.

The event reflected the shared vision of The Readers Club and The Trekkers Club. While The Readers Club promotes intellectual curiosity, meaningful conversations, and collaboration, The Trekkers Club encourages outdoor exploration, resilience, teamwork, and environmental stewardship. The trek brought these objectives together by providing students with opportunities to connect, exchange ideas, and develop interpersonal skills through a shared outdoor experience.

Furthermore, the activity supported the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being. By encouraging outdoor recreation, physical movement, social interaction, and mental refreshment, the initiative contributed to students’ holistic development. It also reinforced the importance of respecting nature and adopting responsible practices during outdoor activities.

Following their enjoyable time at the waterfall, participants gathered for snacks and a group photograph, capturing the enthusiasm, friendship, and togetherness that characterized the event. The group subsequently commenced its return journey and reached the campus safely by 3:30 PM, concluding the activity successfully.

The trek to Lingya Ghat Waterfall was a refreshing and memorable experience combining adventure, recreation, and personal development. It strengthened friendships, encouraged teamwork, enhanced environmental awareness, and promoted physical and mental well-being among participants. The successful collaboration between The Readers Club, The Trekkers Club, and the Library and Information Center demonstrated the value of experiential learning beyond classrooms. Overall, the event reaffirmed the university community’s commitment to meaningful student engagement and holistic development through collaborative, inclusive, and nature-oriented activities, while inspiring students to participate enthusiastically in future initiatives that nurture friendship, responsibility, and lifelong learning.
