Inaugural ceremony Academic year 2025-26

On 14th August 2023, the School of Sciences hosted the formal inauguration ceremony of its MSc Data Science, BSc, and BCA programmes for the academic year 2025–26. The event took place in the Central Block Auditorium from 9:30 am to 11:00 am and marked a significant milestone in the academic calendar. It symbolized a fresh beginning for the newly admitted students, setting a hopeful and inspiring tone for their educational journey. The ceremony commenced with a warm and gracious welcome address by Dr. Lekha J, Programme Coordinator. She extended heartfelt greetings to the dignitaries, faculty members, students, and guests in attendance. Her speech emphasized the School of Sciences’ academic vision, commitment to excellence, and the importance of fostering a strong sense of community within the institution. Following the welcome address, the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp took place. This symbolic act represents the dispelling of darkness and the ushering in of knowledge and enlightenment. The lamp was lit by a group of esteemed dignitaries, accompanied by a student representative, reflecting the collaborative spirit that the institution encourages between students and faculty. This gesture highlighted the shared responsibility of nurturing academic growth and fostering a positive learning environment.

A unique and deeply meaningful part of the event was the interfaith prayer service, which captured the inclusive and spiritual ethos of the institution. Faculty members led readings from sacred texts including the Bhagavad Gita, the Holy Quran, and the Holy Bible, along with teachings from Saint Kuriakose Elias Chavara, founder of the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI). These readings served as blessings for the academic journey ahead and emphasized the values of unity, peace, and mutual respect. The prayer session concluded with intercessory prayers and a final blessing, offering a sense of spiritual grounding and collective hope.

The formal address by Dr. Fr. Lijo Thomas, Dean and Director, followed the prayer service. He welcomed the new students with words of encouragement and reflected on the importance of academic integrity, commitment, and personal growth. His address inspired the students to embrace their studies with dedication and a strong sense of purpose.

The chief guest, Mr. Ajay Patil, delivered a powerful keynote address that stressed the significance of building a strong academic foundation alongside the development of relevant skills. He spoke about the importance of lifelong learning, discipline, and values in shaping one’s career and personal life. His words encouraged students to strive for a balanced approach to education — one that integrates intellectual, professional, and moral growth.

Dr. Lija Jacob, Head of the Department, also addressed the gathering, elaborating on the academic goals, curriculum vision, and overall objectives of the newly launched programmes. Her message further reinforced the institution's dedication to nurturing talent and fostering innovation.

The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Tiny S. Palathara, Programme Coordinator, who expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to making the event a success. The programme officially ended with the singing of the Christ Anthem, symbolizing unity and marking the beginning of a new academic chapter for the students.
