International Boost Self-Esteem Month
The activity was designed to be simple, inclusive, and student-friendly, allowing participation without pressure or formal evaluation. Reflection boards were set up at prominent locations across the campus, including the Management Block and the Central Block, ensuring visibility and accessibility. These boards displayed two guiding prompts: “One strength I’m proud of” and “My growth this year.” Students were invited to write short reflections, words of encouragement, or personal milestones, creating a collective display of self-recognition and positivity.
The initiative provided a safe and supportive space for expression where students could acknowledge growth in academic achievements, emotional resilience, social relationships, or personal development. Seeing shared reflections from peers helped normalize conversations about self-growth and mental well-being, reinforcing the idea that progress occurs at different paces and in diverse forms. The public yet compassionate format of the activity encouraged openness while maintaining a sense of comfort and voluntary participation.
Peer Educators from CCHS played a vital role in facilitating engagement. They interacted with students, explained the purpose of the activity, and encouraged participation in a warm and non-judgmental manner. Their involvement fostered a welcoming environment and promoted meaningful discussions around self-esteem, resilience, and self-compassion. Peer-led interaction also strengthened relatability and trust, making the initiative more approachable for students who may otherwise hesitate to engage in reflective exercises.In addition to reflection sharing, positive affirmation displays were incorporated to reinforce uplifting messages across the campus. These affirmations served as gentle reminders of self-worth, capability, and inner strength, complementing the reflection activity and amplifying its emotional impact.
The initiative created a collaborative atmosphere of encouragement and validation. By visibly celebrating individual growth stories, the activity fostered a sense of belonging and collective motivation, reminding students that self-esteem is nurtured through recognition, acceptance, and consistent self-reflection.The International Boost Self-Esteem Month initiative organized by the Centre for Counselling & Health Services (CCHS) emerged as a meaningful step toward cultivating a compassionate and mentally healthy campus culture. Through reflective participation, peer engagement, and affirmation displays, the event encouraged students to acknowledge their strengths and celebrate their personal journeys.
By promoting introspection and self-appreciation, the initiative reinforced the importance of emotional awareness and confidence in both academic and personal spheres. Activities such as these contribute significantly to building an environment where students feel valued, supported, and empowered to continue their journey of growth with optimism and self-belief.
