Safer Internet Day Click with Care

The Centre for Counselling & Health Services (CCHS), CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus, organized an interactive awareness session titled “Click with Care” on 11th February 2026 in observance of Safer Internet Day. The initiative was conducted to promote safe, responsible, and ethical use of digital technology among students, recognizing the increasing dependence on online platforms for academic, social, and personal engagement. As digital spaces continue to shape everyday life, the programme aimed to address emerging concerns related to privacy, cyber safety, digital well-being, and the psychological impact of online interactions.

The session was facilitated by Prof. KT Thomas, who engaged students through real-life case studies, practical examples, and reflective discussions. The resource person highlighted that while digital platforms provide opportunities for learning, networking, and creative expression, they also expose individuals to significant risks. Issues such as cyberbullying, online harassment, identity theft, misinformation, phishing scams, and digital addiction were discussed in detail. Students were encouraged to recognize how unsafe online behaviour can have lasting consequences, particularly through digital footprints that may affect personal, academic, and professional futures. The importance of responsible communication, ethical conduct, and caution while sharing personal information online was strongly emphasized.

A key focus of the session was developing healthy digital boundaries and encouraging mindful engagement with technology. Participants reflected on their daily online habits and examined how constant connectivity influences concentration, emotional stability, sleep patterns, and interpersonal relationships. The discussion also acknowledged the emotional distress caused by negative digital experiences and reinforced the importance of seeking timely support when facing cyber threats or online harassment. By creating a safe and open environment, the programme allowed students to share concerns, clarify doubts, and learn practical strategies to navigate digital challenges more confidently.

The interactive nature of the session promoted critical thinking and self-awareness. Students were sensitized to the idea that online behaviour carries real-world consequences and that empathy and accountability must extend into virtual spaces. Respectful communication, consent in digital interactions, and ethical engagement were highlighted as essential components of responsible digital citizenship. The session reinforced the need to consciously balance technology use with mental well-being and adopt healthier coping strategies to prevent digital burnout.

The outcomes of the programme were clearly visible in the responses and reflections shared by participants. There was increased awareness regarding cyber safety measures, privacy protection, and the long-term implications of digital footprints. Students demonstrated improved understanding of maintaining healthy digital boundaries and practicing responsible online behaviour. The session enhanced their ability to identify and respond to online risks such as scams, cyberbullying, and misinformation. Importantly, it promoted emotional well-being by encouraging help-seeking behaviour in situations of digital distress. Participants also expressed a strengthened sense of responsibility and accountability within virtual spaces.

Overall, the “Click with Care” session successfully contributed to fostering digital awareness and responsibility among students. The programme aligned with the University’s commitment to holistic development by integrating digital safety with emotional and psychological well-being. By equipping students with practical knowledge and reflective insight, the initiative empowered them to make informed decisions online and actively contribute to building a safer, more respectful, and inclusive digital community within and beyond the campus.
