Leadership Skill Development Training


A two-day interactive session on team building and leadership development was conducted for the MSc Data Science students on 22 November 2025 and 23 November 2025. The session was led by Ms. Sumitra Krishnaswamy, the founder of Infinity Skilverse Academy, who is a renowned team-building specialist and leadership trainer. The primary objective of the session was to enhance students’ interpersonal skills, teamwork abilities, and leadership potential through experiential learning.

The session commenced with a series of engaging ice-breaking activities designed to create a comfortable and inclusive environment for all participants. These initial activities helped students overcome hesitation, communicate freely with their peers, and actively participate in subsequent tasks. From the very beginning, the session emphasized learning through participation rather than passive listening, which kept students motivated and involved throughout the two days.

Over the course of the session, students were divided into teams and assigned various team-building tasks and challenges. These activities required collaboration, strategic thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication. Through these exercises, students learned the importance of trust, coordination, and mutual respect within a team. Each activity was followed by reflective discussions led by Ms. Sumitra, where students analyzed their performance, identified strengths and weaknesses, and discussed ways to improve teamwork and leadership behavior.

Ms. Sumitra Krishnaswamy also delivered insightful talks on key aspects of leadership, including adaptability, accountability, decision-making, and emotional intelligence. She shared real-life examples and professional experiences that helped students relate theoretical concepts to practical situations. Her approach encouraged students to step out of their comfort zones, take initiative, and assume leadership roles during group activities.

The second day of the session focused on more complex tasks that tested students’ ability to handle pressure, manage conflicts, and work efficiently within time constraints. These activities highlighted the significance of role clarity and collective responsibility in achieving common goals. Students were encouraged to rotate leadership roles, which gave everyone an opportunity to lead and understand the challenges associated with leadership.

Overall, the two-day session proved to be highly beneficial for the students. It enabled them to develop strong team-building skills, improve communication and collaboration, and gain confidence in their leadership abilities. The interactive nature of the program ensured active participation and meaningful learning. The session successfully met its objectives and provided students with valuable skills that will be useful in both academic and professional settings.

The students expressed positive feedback and appreciation for the session, highlighting its practical relevance and engaging methodology. The program conducted by Ms. Sumitra Krishnaswamy was a significant step toward holistic student development and skill enhancement.
