World Cancer Day


World Cancer Day, observed annually on the 4th of February, serves as a global reminder of the importance of cancer awareness, prevention, and early intervention. Recognizing the growing need for reliable health information among young adults, the Centre for Counselling & Health Services (CCHS) curated an online awareness initiative designed to educate, inform, and empower students and faculty members through digital engagement.

The campaign was conducted through Instagram to ensure accessibility, visibility, and wider reach within the student community. By leveraging social media as an educational tool, the initiative aimed to bridge the gap between medical knowledge and everyday awareness while presenting information in a format that was both student-friendly and visually engaging.

A central highlight of the campaign was an Instagram Reel shared by the campus doctor, who provided medical insights into cancer awareness and prevention. The reel focused on explaining common risk factors, the importance of early screening, and the value of timely medical consultation. It also addressed prevalent misconceptions surrounding cancer, encouraging viewers to approach health concerns with informed understanding rather than fear or stigma.

In addition to the reel, informative Instagram posts were designed and published by the CCHS team. These posts emphasized early warning signs, lifestyle-related risk factors, and the importance of regular health check-ups. 

The initiative also highlighted the role of lifestyle choices such as balanced nutrition, regular exercise, stress management, and avoidance of harmful substances in reducing cancer risks. By reinforcing the value of proactive health behaviors, the campaign encouraged individuals to take responsibility for their physical and mental well-being through consistent and informed actions.

Through this structured digital outreach, CCHS sought to promote health literacy, dispel myths, and cultivate a culture of awareness and responsibility within the campus. The online format ensured that the message reached a larger audience while allowing participants to revisit the content at their convenience, thereby strengthening retention and engagement.
