The event titled “Balance & Motion: A Guide to Gimbal Videography” was successfully organized by the Focus Photography Club in collaboration with the Centre for Digital Learning at CHRIST University, Pune Lavasa Campus. Conducted on 12th March 2026 at 5:00 PM in the Amphitheatre, Management Block, the session aimed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of gimbal usage in videography and enhance their practical filmmaking skills.
The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various departments, especially those with an interest in photography, videography, and digital content creation. The session began with an introduction to the fundamentals of videography, emphasizing the importance of stability, framing, and motion in visual storytelling. The resource person elaborated on how gimbals have transformed modern videography by enabling smooth, cinematic shots even in dynamic environments.
A key highlight of the session was the live demonstration of gimbal equipment. Participants were introduced to the different components of a gimbal, its balancing techniques, and calibration methods. The speaker explained how improper balancing can affect footage quality and demonstrated step-by-step procedures to achieve optimal stabilization. This hands-on approach allowed students to better grasp technical concepts and apply them in real-time scenarios.

The workshop also covered various shooting techniques using gimbals, such as tracking shots, panning, tilting, and creative transitions. Participants were guided on how to incorporate movement effectively to enhance storytelling and create visually engaging content. Practical tips on camera settings, posture, and movement coordination were shared, helping attendees understand how to maintain both technical precision and creative flow.
An interactive segment was included where students were invited to try using the gimbal themselves. This experiential learning opportunity was highly appreciated, as it enabled participants to gain confidence in handling equipment and experimenting with different shooting styles. The resource person provided immediate feedback and suggestions, making the session more engaging and personalized.
In addition to technical knowledge, the workshop emphasized the importance of creativity and innovation in videography. Students were encouraged to think beyond conventional methods and explore unique perspectives while shooting. The session also highlighted career opportunities in videography and content creation, motivating students to pursue their interests more seriously.
Overall, the event was a valuable learning experience that successfully bridged the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. It not only enhanced the technical skills of participants but also inspired them to explore the art of visual storytelling with greater confidence. The collaboration between the Focus Photography Club and the Centre for Digital Learning played a crucial role in organizing a well-structured and impactful session.
