Happy International Womens Day

International Women’s Day is celebrated across the world to recognize the achievements, resilience, and valuable contributions of women in various spheres of life. Observing the importance of this occasion, the Centre for Counselling and Health Services (CCHS) at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus organized a thoughtful appreciation initiative to acknowledge and celebrate the dedication of women staff members who contribute significantly to the functioning of the campus community.

The objective of the initiative was to express gratitude toward women staff members for their continuous efforts, support, and commitment in maintaining a positive and supportive campus environment. Women across different departments play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functioning of academic, administrative, and student support services. Recognizing their work and expressing appreciation for their contributions was therefore considered a meaningful way to mark International Women’s Day on campus.

As part of the celebration, small tokens of appreciation were distributed to women staff members across the campus. These included flowers, appreciation cards, and chocolates. Flowers were chosen as a symbol of appreciation, warmth, and strength, representing the positivity and resilience that women bring to their professional and personal roles. The gesture aimed to convey respect and gratitude for the efforts and dedication demonstrated by women staff members in their everyday responsibilities.

A particularly meaningful aspect of the initiative was the inclusion of personalized appreciation cards prepared with gratitude messages written by students. These cards carried heartfelt messages expressing thanks for the care, support, and guidance that women staff members provide in their respective roles. Through these notes, students were able to acknowledge individuals who contribute quietly yet significantly to their campus experience. This component of the initiative helped create a more personal and emotional connection, allowing students to actively participate in celebrating and appreciating the women who support them throughout their academic journey.

Peer Educators associated with the Centre for Counselling and Health Services played an important role in coordinating and facilitating the initiative. They assisted in organizing the materials and distributing the flowers, cards, and chocolates to women staff members across different sections of the campus. During the distribution, the peer educators also interacted with staff members and conveyed words of appreciation and gratitude on behalf of the student community. Their participation helped create a warm and respectful atmosphere that reflected the true spirit of the celebration.

The initiative also encouraged students and members of the campus community to reflect on the broader themes of gender respect, equality, and inclusivity. By acknowledging the dedication and contributions of women staff members, the activity highlighted the importance of recognizing individuals who contribute to the wellbeing and functioning of the university, even when their work may often remain behind the scenes.

Overall, the International Women’s Day appreciation initiative served as a simple yet meaningful gesture that brought together students and staff in a shared expression of gratitude. The activity helped strengthen the culture of respect and recognition within the campus while celebrating the strength, dedication, and invaluable contributions of women in the university community.
