Skill Enhancement Session: SPSS for ABRP- Part 2
The School of Business & Management – BBA at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus, organized a Skill Enhancement Session titled “SPSS for ABRP – Part 2” on 07th March 2026 from 09:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Auditorium, Central Block. The session was conducted as part of the Analytical Based Research Project (ABRP)training series for the 2023 batch of BBA students during the Academic Year 2025–26. The event aimed to strengthen students’ research and data analysis skills by providing practical exposure to statistical analysis using SPSS. The session witnessed the active participation of over 200 third-year BBA students.
The session was delivered by Biplab Roy, Assistant Professor at the School of Business & Management – BBA, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus. The event was coordinated by Dr. Pragya Mondal, who played a key role in organizing the session and ensuring effective participation of students. The program focused on helping students apply statistical tools for analyzing data collected as part of their Analytical Based Research Projects. The session began with a brief introduction to the importance of quantitative data analysis in academic research. Students were introduced to the role of statistical tools in interpreting survey responses, identifying relationships among variables, and deriving meaningful insights from data. The speaker emphasized how statistical analysis strengthens the credibility and validity of research findings, particularly in business and management studies.
The training primarily focused on the practical application of SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) for analyzing research data. Students were guided through the process of data entry, coding of variables, and data cleaning techniques necessary before performing statistical tests. The speaker explained how well-structured datasets help researchers obtain reliable outputs and avoid analytical errors. During the session, students were introduced to several commonly used statistical techniques relevant for undergraduate research projects. These included descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and regression analysis, which help researchers understand patterns and relationships within their data. The speaker demonstrated how to run these statistical tests using SPSS and interpret the output tables generated by the software.
Special attention was given to interpreting statistical results, which is a crucial aspect of research analysis. Students learned how to read SPSS output tables, interpret significance values, and explain findings in a research report. The session also addressed common mistakes students often make while analyzing data and provided practical tips for presenting results clearly in their ABRP reports. The session was designed to be highly interactive, allowing students to ask questions and clarify doubts related to their individual research projects. Several examples were used to illustrate how SPSS can be applied to real research scenarios in business, marketing, finance, and human resource management. This practical approach helped students understand the relevance of statistical tools in solving real-world research problems.
The skill enhancement session proved to be highly beneficial for students preparing their Analytical Based Research Projects. It strengthened their understanding of quantitative research methods and improved their confidence in handling statistical analysis independently. Students gained clarity on how to organize data, run statistical tests, and interpret analytical results effectively. Overall, the session successfully enhanced the research capabilities of BBA students by equipping them with essential analytical skills required for academic research. The program contributed to building a strong foundation in data-driven decision-making and research methodology, which are critical competencies for students pursuing higher studies and professional careers in business and management.
