National Science Day

The Science Day Exhibition was organized with the objective of promoting scientific curiosity, creativity, and innovation among school students from the Lavasa region. The event served as an engaging platform for young learners to explore scientific concepts beyond the classroom and present their ideas in an interactive and practical manner. Students from three nearby schools enthusiastically participated in the exhibition, bringing with them a wide range of creative and thought-provoking projects. The initiative aimed to encourage students to develop an interest in science, nurture their analytical abilities, and build confidence in presenting their ideas to a larger audience.

The exhibition was designed to allow students to showcase their scientific knowledge through multiple formats. To ensure that participants could express their ideas creatively, the competition was divided into three categories: Poster Making (science-themed), Working Models, and Static Models. Each category encouraged students to approach scientific concepts differently. The poster-making category focused on visual communication and creativity, allowing students to illustrate scientific ideas, discoveries, and environmental awareness topics through artistic and informative posters. The working model category required participants to design functional demonstrations that explained scientific principles through motion or real-time processes. Meanwhile, the static model category enabled students to build conceptual representations that visually explained various scientific phenomena and innovations.

The event began with the formal commencement of the program, creating an enthusiastic and welcoming atmosphere for all participants and guests. This was followed by a welcome address that set the tone for the day by highlighting the importance of nurturing scientific curiosity from an early age. The program also featured a keynote address by Prof. Margret Salve, who spoke about the role of science and innovation in shaping modern society. In her address, she emphasized that scientific thinking is not limited to laboratories and textbooks but is an essential skill that can be applied in everyday life to solve problems and improve the world around us. Her speech encouraged students to remain curious, ask questions, and continuously explore new ideas.

Adding a creative and reflective dimension to the event, a monologue presentation by Laxika Bisht captivated the audience by illustrating the transformative role of science in shaping the future. Through a powerful and engaging performance, the presentation highlighted how scientific advancements have influenced society and how the next generation of young thinkers can contribute to future innovations.

Following the inaugural segment, the exhibition was formally opened through a ribbon-cutting ceremony, marking the beginning of the project display and evaluation. Students proudly presented their posters and models, explaining the scientific principles behind their ideas to judges and visitors. The projects covered a wide variety of topics, including environmental sustainability, renewable energy, technological innovation, and everyday scientific applications. The diversity of ideas reflected the creativity and enthusiasm of the young participants.

The projects were carefully evaluated by a panel of judges who assessed them based on originality, clarity of presentation, creativity, and the students’ understanding of scientific concepts. The interactive evaluation process allowed students to confidently discuss their work and demonstrate their learning.

The event concluded with a valedictory ceremony that celebrated the efforts and achievements of all participants. A vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. Dr. Anita Kumari, who expressed gratitude to the participating schools, students, faculty members, and organizers for their contributions in making the exhibition a success. The program ended with refreshments and informal interactions, leaving students inspired and motivated to continue exploring the fascinating world of science.
