BIOCREST - NATIONAL ENERGY CONSERVATION DAY
BIOCREST was an event designed to raise awareness among the students as well as faculty about the National Energy Conservation Day. The event was held on an aforementioned Day on 14th December 2021 organized by the School of Commerce, Finance & Accountancy (BCom) and School of Business & Management (BBA) in CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus.
The event consisted of two phases: In the first phase, interested parties were asked to send in a proposal that would help reduce the consumption of energy and help usher in a greener future. Five teams were then shortlisted for the second phase where they had to present their proposals to a panel of five judges (one judge from each of the Departments of the Pune Lavasa Campus). The presentations took place in the Central Block of CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus in a hybrid model; students attended the event both offline and via the online platform Zoom.
Interested students were also given the opportunity to set up various stalls that contained everything from food to fun games. Each of the stalls operated under the axiom of energy conservation, ensuring that each person who partook in them understood the significance of environmental preservation.
After the conclusion of the presentations and the declaration of the winners, the assembled audience and the participants walked from the campus to Lavasa’s Town Hall to witness a street play that was organized by the students of the School of Business and Management. The street play touched upon themes of environmental sensibility, drawing an audience not only from the staff and students but from the citizens of the Lavasa township as well.
The aim of the event was not to sell a product but rather to inculcate a sense of environmental responsibility in both the students as well as the faculty. The students took to the theme with zeal, presenting their ideas with both passion and conviction. The event helped to inculcate a sense of responsibility among the students and helped them to be aware of not only the importance of the National Energy Conservation Day but of the importance of a greener and more sustainable lifestyle.
