GUEST LECTURE ON THE PRACTICAL ASPECTS OF MATRIMONIAL LAW

The Guest lecture was organized by the School of law in CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus on the 8th December 2021 between 11:15 AM to 01:10 AM. The lecture was on ‘Practical Aspects of Matrimonial Law’. 


The lecture was given by Advocate Govind Bali. He specializes in Constitutional and Criminal Law along with arbitration and mediation. His firm Fastrack Legal Solutions provides services in Legal, Criminal, Family, Divorce, and Matrimonial matters along with statutory and non-statutory complaints of Armed forces, Notary and Affidavit services, Attestation, Litigation, Arbitration, Contract drafting, and Educational consultancy.


The lecture focused on the personal laws of Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Parsis in India that included matrimonial, divorce, adoption matters. Various parts and sections of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955; Special Marriage Act, 1954; Christian Marriage Act, 1872; Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006; and the Foreign Marriage Act, 1969 were discussed in brief. 

Registration of marriages under various personal laws was looked upon in detail. The current socio-legal standing with regard to interfaith marriages was explained including various case laws and their holding in this matter. The link between practical aspects of martial law and criminal law was jotted down by the lecturer including the procedure on how to deal with these issues.


LGBTQ live-in and marriage rights are new to India and the questions on whether or not same-sex marriage and registration of these marriages are allowed or whether they enjoy the same marital rights as others were answered. The legal standing of India relating to the controversial topic of marital rape was elaborated. A brief look into court proceedings in these matters and the essentials of petition drafting was given.

PANEL DISCUSSION ON LEADERSHIP & ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT SKILLS

The Third International Conference on Data Science, Computation and Security (IDSCS-22) hosted by CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus in association with Springer from 11th to 12th February 2022. The conference was conducted online with participants from all across the globe. The conference commenced with the inauguration ceremony at 9:30 AM.
