ONLINE RESEARCH WORKSHOP ON “STRUCTURAL EQUATION MODELLING USING AMOS"

The School of Commerce, Finance and Accountancy, and the School of Business and Management organized an online research workshop on 'Structural Equation Modelling Using Amos' on 20th March 2021 in CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus.

About the Workshop

In management research, theory development and theory testing are widely used practices. Methodologists have developed structural equation modeling techniques by integrating the features of multiple regression and factor analysis. Theory testing or theory confirmation is the process of testing the proposed theoretical model with the data. In SEM the model fit values are used as a criterion to assess the fit of the data with the theoretical model. In the recent literature, in most of the cases, researchers have used a structural equation modeling approach to test their theories.

About the Speaker

The guest speaker for the workshop was Dr P Murugan. Dr P Murugan has worked as a Data Analyst at the Australian Council for Educational Research, New Delhi, and the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli. He holds a deep passion for research and has served as a resource person for several workshops and FDP programs held at many universities across India. He has papers published in Thomson Reuter’s impact factor (SSCI) and ABDC listed journals along with several papers presented at both the national and International Levels. He currently works as an Assistant Professor in the School of Management Studies at the University of Hyderabad.

Proceedings of the Workshop:

The workshop began at 9:30 AM with the welcome address being delivered by one of the organizers of the workshop, Dr Mahesh Kumar T. Following the welcome address, Dr P Murugan commenced the workshop.

Dr Murugan detailed the usage of AMOS, covering topics such as:
  •  Introduction to Structural Equation Modeling
  •  Literature evidence on SEM
  •  Introduction to Confirmatory factor analysis
  •  Construct validity
  •  Testing SEM models
  •  Reporting the SEM results in paper/thesis
The workshop ran for four hours, concluding at 1:30 PM. Mr Aaron George of the School of Commerce, Finance and Accountancy delivered the vote of thanks, thanking the management, the organizers, the guest speaker, and the attendees.
