CHRIST PREMIER LEAGUE

Finance Club of MBA Department organized and invited cricket fanatics from all specializations to take part in Christ Premier League event on 10th December 2021 from 2:00 PM to 3:25 PM at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus.

Seven teams with eight members each competed against each other in a cricket player auction and formed their respective cricket team comprising of 11 players in each team. Every team was given a limited budget of 200 crores using which they had to acquire the players they desired. The agenda of the event was to create an experience of legal bidding for the participants with a dedicated auctioneer controlling the proceedings of this multi-day event. For the rest of the event, CPL franchises fiercely bided for the listed players and parked their allotted funds strategically on the right players.

The number of players being auctioned in the event was 104, consisting of a mix of batsmen, bowlers, and wicket keepers. The participants, through the process, learned to bid in the best options and plan the bidding.

Each player was screened for the team to start bidding; once the maximum bidding was reached the player was bought by the team bidding the highest. Each player was screened in the same way. Hence the teams had to make sure to buy or wait for the right players throughout the event, also making sure that they had enough funds to make the deal. The auction ended with a settled squad for every CPL team. The activity aimed at showcasing team management, critical thinking, decision-making skills, and the ability to wisely park the funds in the participants. Also giving a brief idea of real-time auctioning, bidding, and funds management to participants.

The pseudo names for the teams were - Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
