The longest awaited event was cricket, one of the most favorite sports. Following the rules and rituals, the match started with a toss between the team’s first to get onto the battlefield –the Samurais and the Vikings. The Samurais chose to ball and the Vikings to bat. With tons of mixed feelings of stress and excitement the match began. The silence in the field was waiting to be disturbed by the hit of the bat and ball. The Samurais had strategically covered the ground to field making it challenging for The Vikings to score. But they, being the warriors too, didn’t leave any stone unturned and performed their best. The Vikings made 56 runs in eight overs and gave a target of 57 runs to their opponents – the Samurais.
Day 8
The last event was the cricket match between the two clans- Spartans and Samurais. It was a very intense match. Both teams performed extremely well. The match started off with Spartans on strike. The players did not seem bothered or nervous and played like it. Their batting style was aggressive and they played offensively. The samurais however came to play because they were able to counter the opponent with their strong defense. By the end of the first innings, Spartans were all out and managed to score 20 runs.
The start of the second innings gave a chill to the crowd as the two titan clans marched to the field for a chance to win. The target was set at 21. Samurais had 6 overs to tackle the target and win the match, the target may have seemed easy to score but the tricky terrain and the fielding of the Spartans said otherwise. Spartans were showing their rivals why they were called Spartans but the Samurais fought back. The battle was fought well but alas there can only be one victor. After several deliveries and a beautiful 6 hit by the samurais, they emerged victoriously. The match was well played by both teams. The Samurais managed to pull off a much-deserved win.
It should be noted here that due to rain and other unavoidable circumstances, some matches had to be postponed and the last day of the event was 15th December 2021 instead of 9th December 2021. Overall, the event was quite successful due to sincere efforts of clan leaders, student volunteers, and faculty coordinators. The students had a great lesson in team building and leadership skills during the event.
