Bhashadaan 5.0

The Department of English and Cultural Studies conducted a Bhashadaan awareness session for 10th standard students from various schools, including MDRSSS Betbalkunda (District Bidar), Pirangut Junior College, Dasve Public School, and Disha English Medium School, among others. The session aimed to introduce students to the concept of Bhashadaan and highlight its relevance in the context of language and digital participation. The initiative also focuses on promoting inclusive and equitable quality education and encouraging lifelong learning opportunities.

The session began with an engaging introduction that demonstrated how translation tools can enable communication across languages. Through a simple and relatable example of a person unfamiliar with Hindi using digital tools to speak and understand the language, students were introduced to the practical relevance of such technologies. This approach helped create immediate interest and made the concept accessible. It was followed by real-life examples that further strengthened their understanding and allowed them to connect the idea to their everyday experiences.

Building on this foundation, the session transitioned into an explanation of Bhashadaan, linking the use of such tools to the broader idea of language contribution and preservation. The concept was explained in detail, with a focus on how language plays a crucial role in communication and identity. Students were also introduced to the idea that they can actively participate in preserving linguistic diversity through digital platforms, making them contributors rather than just users of technology.

The session then moved into the introduction of the various tools available within Bhashadaan. Each tool was explained in terms of how it functions and what benefits it offers. To make this more interactive, students were encouraged to respond to prompts and questions displayed on the platform. Many students actively participated by selecting languages such as Marathi and Hindi, which made the session more inclusive and relatable. This hands-on interaction helped reinforce their understanding and gave them a clearer idea of how the platform works in practice.

To further enhance engagement, students were divided into groups and participated in activity-based games using tools such as “Suno” and “Dekho.” The competitive element, combined with a points-based system, encouraged active involvement and made the session more dynamic. Students showed enthusiasm and interest throughout this segment, which contributed to a more effective learning experience.

The session concluded with the collection of feedback forms from the students, allowing for reflection on their experience and understanding. Overall, the event successfully created awareness about Bhashadaan while ensuring consistent participation and engagement. The combination of explanation, demonstration, and interactive activities made the session both informative and impactful for the students.
