Vink Vista 2.0

Vink Vista 2.0, organised by the Newsletter Committee of the School of Law, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus, was a two-day academic and cultural event conducted on 20th and 21st April 2026. The event was designed to promote intellectual engagement, critical thinking, and creative expression among students, while also celebrating the continued growth and contribution of the Newsletter Committee. By integrating expert-led discussions with student participation and cultural activities, the event provided a comprehensive and enriching platform for holistic development.

The event commenced on 20th April 2026 with the inauguration ceremony, followed by a guest lecture by Mr. Frank Pereira, Senior Consultant and Anchor at Sansad TV, on the theme “The Truth About Journalistic Freedom.” The session offered a nuanced understanding of the functioning of media in contemporary society. The speaker emphasised the distinction between journalistic error and intentional misinformation, urging students to approach news consumption with greater critical awareness. He highlighted how individuals often gravitate towards sources that align with their pre-existing beliefs, thereby limiting objectivity. The discussion also addressed the complexities of press freedom, acknowledging that while some media platforms operate with integrity, others may be influenced by bias or external pressures. The interactive nature of the session encouraged students to actively engage, raise questions, and reflect on the role of media in shaping public opinion.

Later that day, a Cultural Night was organised as part of the celebrations, featuring a variety of performances including dance, music, and poetry, along with food stalls. This segment provided an open platform for students to showcase their talents and creativity, contributing to a vibrant and inclusive campus environment. It also fostered a sense of community and collaboration among students, allowing them to engage beyond the academic sphere and enhancing the overall experience of the event.

On 21st April 2026, the second day of the event featured a guest lecture by Dr. Pratapsinh Salunke, Associate Dean at MNLU Mumbai, on the topic “Reflections on Democracy, Constitutionalism and Emergency Proclamation.” The lecture emphasised that the Constitution should be viewed as a living and evolving document rather than a static legal text. The speaker highlighted the concept of gradual erosion of democratic principles, explaining how institutional changes often occur incrementally and may not be immediately noticeable. By referring to Article 356 and relevant academic perspectives, the session encouraged students to critically examine how constitutional provisions may be applied or misused over time. The lecture prompted meaningful reflection on the responsibility of legal professionals and citizens in safeguarding democratic values and ensuring accountability within governance structures.

The event concluded with the valedictory ceremony, which also marked the official release of the second edition of Lex Lumina, the School of Law magazine. This milestone celebrated the academic contributions of students and provided a platform to recognise their efforts in research and writing. Overall, Vink Vista 2.0 successfully combined academic discourse with cultural engagement, creating a well-rounded and impactful experience. It not only enhanced students’ understanding of contemporary legal and societal issues but also encouraged active participation, collaboration, and creative expression, thereby fulfilling its intended objectives effectively.
