Strategic Orientation to the Competitive Examination of UGC NET


The Centre for Competitive Examinations, in collaboration with the School of Law, organised a session titled “Strategic Orientation to Competitive Examination: UGC NET.” The programme was conducted with the objective of providing students with a clear understanding of the UGC NET examination and guiding them towards effective preparation strategies.

The session commenced with an introduction to the UGC NET examination, highlighting its importance for students who aspire to pursue careers in academia and research. The speaker explained the relevance of the examination in determining eligibility for teaching positions and research opportunities. This initial overview helped students understand the significance of the examination and its role in shaping their future career paths.

The session further focused on explaining the structure and nature of the examination. The speaker provided a general understanding of the two papers and the approach required to perform well in each. Emphasis was placed on developing conceptual clarity and adopting a systematic approach to studying. Students were encouraged to focus on understanding key concepts rather than relying solely on memorisation.

A significant part of the session was dedicated to preparation strategies. The speaker shared practical methods to plan and organise study schedules effectively. Students were advised to make use of standard study materials and practise through previous years’ question papers and mock tests. These strategies were aimed at helping students improve their performance and build confidence over time.
