Data Science Frontiers: Exploring Graph Analytics & Innovations

The School of Science at CHRIST University, Pune Lavasa Campus, successfully organized an insightful and engaging two-day event on Graph Analytics and Data Analytics in Industry. The sessions took place on the 21st and 22nd of March 2025 and were conducted by two esteemed industry experts: Dr. N. R. Swathi, Senior Data Scientist at Verizon, and Mr. Sai Raghav, Senior Manager at Analytics and Insight.

The first session commenced at 9:00 AM with Dr. N. R. Swathi delivering an in-depth talk on the various aspects of graph theory and graph analytics. She elaborated on how relational databases are gradually transforming into graph-based structures, emphasizing their advantages in handling complex data relationships. Additionally, she introduced students to the emerging fields of Graph Machine Learning and Graph Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), providing valuable insights into how graph analytics is reshaping data science applications.

To enhance the learning experience, Dr. Swathi conducted a hands-on session on graph theory using Python. This practical component allowed students to apply theoretical concepts in real time, strengthening their understanding of the subject. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where students engaged with Dr. Swathi to clarify their doubts and discuss potential career paths in this specialized domain.

Following a short break, the second session of the day resumed at 2:00 PM with Mr. Sai Raghav addressing students on the numerous opportunities available in the field of Data Science. He emphasized the importance of personal branding in the industry and guided students on how to build a strong professional presence. Mr. Raghav actively engaged students by reviewing their résumés and LinkedIn profiles, offering personalized feedback on how to enhance their visibility and professionalism. His session provided valuable career insights, particularly in terms of applying for internships and job opportunities in the field of data science.

The second day of the event began with an informative session by Mr. Sai Raghav, where he discussed the current trends in the data science industry. He guided students on key focus areas when applying for various positions and highlighted the significance of mastering foundational concepts. Additionally, he provided a comprehensive overview of the Analytics Project Life Cycle, helping students understand the step-by-step process involved in executing data-driven projects within an organization.

Following Mr. Raghav’s session, Dr. Swathi took the stage to share her personal career journey, detailing her transition from a PhD in Mathematics to becoming a Data Scientist. She illustrated how her expertise in graph theory is being applied in her daily work, inspiring students to explore interdisciplinary applications of their academic knowledge. Her journey served as a motivating example for students interested in bridging the gap between theoretical research and practical industry applications.

The event concluded with an engaging Q&A session, where both speakers addressed students’ queries and provided mentorship on career pathways in data science. Their insights and experiences offered students a clearer perspective on industry expectations and skill requirements. The two-day event was highly beneficial, equipping students with technical knowledge, career guidance, and hands-on experience in graph analytics and data science. The enthusiastic participation and active discussions showcased the students' keen interest in the evolving landscape of analytics and its practical applications.

The School of Commerce, Finance and Accountancy organized a "Panel Discussion on Leadership and Entrepreneurship Development Skill " on 4th March 2022 at 1:30 PM at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus.   Ms Ayushi Chandna student of 6 BCom (Financial Analytics) commenced the session with silent prayer & briefed about the Panel Discussion.
