World Cancer Awareness Day

The Centre for Counselling and Health Services (CCHS) organized Cancer Awareness Day on February 6, 2025, in honor of World Cancer Day. The event aimed to educate, engage, and inspire action against cancer by fostering awareness, encouraging conversations, and promoting proactive health measures. Through a series of interactive activities, including a Cancer Awareness Stall and an Infographic Design Competition, the initiative successfully created an immersive and informative experience for the university community.

Infographic Design Competition

One of the key highlights of the event was the Infographic Design Competition, which encouraged students to creatively express crucial messages related to cancer awareness. Participants were challenged to design compelling and informative visuals that conveyed important aspects of cancer prevention, treatment options, and emotional support systems. A total of eight students enthusiastically took part in the competition, submitting unique and impactful designs that emphasized early detection, the significance of lifestyle choices, and the role of community support in a cancer journey.

Each submission was carefully evaluated by a panel of judges based on criteria such as creativity, clarity, effectiveness in delivering awareness messages, and overall presentation. The competition saw exceptional talent and insightful portrayals of cancer-related issues. After thorough deliberation, four winners were selected for their outstanding contributions in raising awareness through visually engaging and thought-provoking designs. To acknowledge their efforts, winners were awarded attractive cash prizes as a token of appreciation and encouragement.

Cancer Awareness Stall & Engagement Activities

In addition to the competition, a dedicated Cancer Awareness Stall was set up at the Social Sphere, serving as a central hub for information dissemination and engagement. The stall featured a wide range of resources covering essential topics such as cancer prevention, risk factors, early detection methods, available treatments, and emotional support mechanisms. Pamphlets, brochures, and digital presentations were made available to attendees, ensuring they had access to credible and easily digestible information.

To create an inviting and interactive atmosphere, the stall incorporated various engagement activities that facilitated meaningful discussions about cancer awareness and related concerns. Attendees were encouraged to participate in conversations with volunteers and experts over healthy snacks and drinks, making the learning experience more approachable and enjoyable. This informal setting allowed individuals to express their thoughts, share personal experiences, and ask questions about cancer-related topics in a supportive and non-judgmental environment.

Adding to the interactive experience, the event featured a curated selection of meaningful music, enhancing the overall ambiance and encouraging reflection on the importance of health and well-being. To further encourage participation, a lucky draw was held, where attendees had the opportunity to win exciting prizes, making their engagement in the event even more rewarding.

Cancer Awareness Day 2025 at CCHS was a resounding success, achieving its goal of fostering awareness, dispelling myths, and inspiring proactive health choices among students and staff. By integrating education with creativity and engagement, the event left a lasting impact on attendees, reinforcing the significance of early detection, preventive measures, and community support in the fight against cancer. The initiative highlighted the power of awareness and collective action, motivating individuals to be more informed and proactive in safeguarding their health and well-being.
