The Gender Sensitisation: An Awareness Programme, organized by the School of Business and Management at Christ (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus, was a remarkable initiative aimed at fostering awareness about gender-related issues and promoting inclusivity. The session, held on 24 February 2025, at 3pm in Room No 2211, Management Block, was led by Arpita Ghosh (Coordinator, CCHS) and Munira Kachwala (Counsellor, CCHS). Both facilitators provided valuable insights into gender sensitivity, unconscious biases, and actionable ways to create an equitable society.

Through interactive discussions, real-life case studies, and thought-provoking activities, the session encouraged participants to critically examine gender dynamics in both academic and professional environments. The speakers highlighted the importance of understanding gender roles, stereotypes, and biases that shape societal norms, emphasizing the need for an inclusive mindset. They also addressed the challenges faced by individuals due to gender-based discrimination and provided strategies to overcome these barriers.

One of the key aspects of the session was the engagement of students and faculty members in open dialogue. Participants were encouraged to share their experiences, thoughts, and questions, creating a safe space for discussions on gender-related concerns. The facilitators used case studies to illustrate the impact of gender biases in various sectors, including education, corporate workplaces, and daily life, helping attendees recognize the importance of promoting gender equality.

The session also emphasized the role of individuals in fostering a gender-sensitive society. Attendees were encouraged to reflect on their own perspectives and take proactive steps toward eliminating biases in their personal and professional lives. The discussion included strategies to ensure equal opportunities, representation, and fair treatment of all genders in diverse spheres of society. Additionally, the facilitators shed light on legal frameworks and policies that support gender equality, further strengthening the participants' understanding of systemic efforts in this direction.

The active participation of students and faculty made the event a success, with attendees appreciating the insightful discussions and practical takeaways. Many participants expressed that the session broadened their understanding of gender sensitivity and equipped them with the knowledge to contribute positively to a more inclusive environment. The event served as a significant step toward raising awareness about gender equality and reinforcing the university’s commitment to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and equitable academic space.

By challenging stereotypes and encouraging progressive discussions, the Gender Sensitisation: An Awareness Programme proved to be a valuable learning experience. It reinforced the importance of continuous dialogue and action to create a more gender-sensitive community, not just within the university but also in broader societal contexts.
