Otium 3.0 Intra-Department Sports Fest


The Department of Commerce at Christ University, Lavasa, successfully hosted its much-anticipated Intra-Department Sports Fest, an electrifying event that brought together students in a spirited display of athleticism, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The fest, which commenced on February 3, 2025, and concluded on February 11, 2025, saw enthusiastic participation across multiple sporting disciplines, fostering camaraderie and healthy competition among students.

The grand inauguration of the sports fest featured an impressive march-past by each participating class, symbolizing unity and discipline. The ceremonial start set the tone for the thrilling contests that followed, as students competed in a diverse range of sports categorized into team sports, racquet sports, precision sports, strength sports, and track and field athletics.

Team Sports:

One of the most awaited categories, the team sports segment, witnessed high-energy matches filled with strategy and teamwork. The competitions included:

Futsal – A fast-paced game that kept spectators on the edge of their seats with skillful dribbles and strategic play.

Basketball – Players showcased their agility, coordination, and shooting prowess in thrilling encounters.

Cricket – A test of endurance and skill, cricket matches were intense, featuring remarkable batting, bowling, and fielding performances.

Volleyball – Teams engaged in exciting rallies, displaying exceptional teamwork and powerful spikes.

Throwball – A test of reflexes and coordination, throwball matches were marked by strategic plays and swift exchanges.

Tug of War – A true display of strength and determination, teams battled it out in a gripping test of resilience.

Human Foosball – A fun yet competitive event that brought a unique twist to the traditional game, requiring coordination and teamwork in a confined setup.

Racquet Sports:

The racquet sports segment saw intense individual and doubles competitions, including:

Badminton – Players demonstrated precision and agility, engaging in thrilling rallies.

Lawn Tennis – A display of skill and endurance, with competitors showcasing powerful serves and tactical play.

Table Tennis – High-speed exchanges and sharp reflexes defined the table tennis matches, making them a crowd favorite.

Precision Sports:

For those with a keen eye and steady hand, precision sports added a different dimension to the fest:

8-Ball Pool – A battle of focus and calculation, where players strategized their moves to pocket balls skillfully.

Chess – A test of intellect and patience, chess matches highlighted strategic thinking and tactical foresight.

Strength Sports:

Arm Wrestling – A true test of upper body strength, competitors showcased remarkable power and endurance.

Track and Field Athletics:

The fest also featured a range of track and field events that pushed participants to their limits:

Shot Put – Athletes demonstrated their throwing strength and technique in this power-based event.

60M Dash – A sprinting event that witnessed electrifying speed and close finishes.

60M x 4 Relay – A race of coordination and endurance, with teams showcasing their seamless baton exchanges and pace.

Throughout the sports fest, the students displayed exceptional enthusiasm and a competitive spirit, with every match and event witnessing immense energy and sportsmanship. Faculty members and peers cheered on the participants, adding to the vibrant atmosphere of the fest.

After weeks of intense competition and remarkable performances across multiple disciplines, the coveted title of the Overall Champion of the Intra-Department Sports Fest was awarded to 6 BCOM A class, whose athletes demonstrated outstanding performance and consistency across various sports.

The Intra-Department Sports Fest at the Department of Commerce, Christ University, Lavasa, was a resounding success, fostering unity, fitness, and a culture of sportsmanship among students.
