Workshop on Skill Enhancement Through Dialogues

The "Skill Enhancement Through Dialogue" session featured Ms. Renu Marwaha as the distinguished speaker, who engaged with CAPS students on the significance of effective communication in professional settings. She emphasized the crucial role of language in professional gatherings, underscoring the importance of formal language proficiency and the clarity of using one's regional or mother tongue.

The Centre for Academic and Professional Support (CAPS) at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus organized a session titled "Skill Enhancement Through Dialogues" on 18th February 2025 at 5 PM in the Banquet Hall. This event was conducted as part of the Student Development and aimed to foster effective communication skills among CAPS members.

The session was led by Ms. Renu Marwah, a distinguished speaker who engaged with students on the importance of professional communication. The event had 32 participants and focused on enhancing language proficiency, group discussion techniques, and time management skills.

Ms. Marwah opened the session by addressing the significance of formal language proficiency in professional environments. She highlighted how structured and clear language, whether in English or one's regional or mother tongue, plays a crucial role in business and corporate settings. She encouraged students to refine their ability to express thoughts confidently and clearly, making them more effective communicators.

A key component of the session was the Group Discussion (GD) training, where Ms. Marwah provided students with insights into body language, eye contact, posture, pitch, and tone modulation. She emphasized the importance of a well-structured thought process in discussions and encouraged students to practice these skills for career success. Drawing from her experiences, she shared practical examples of how communication skills impact performance in interviews, meetings, and professional interactions.

The session also covered time management, a crucial skill for personal and professional success. Ms. Marwah introduced strategies for managing time efficiently and maintaining productivity, assuring students that future sessions would explore this topic more deeply.

Furthermore, she elaborated on the dynamics of language in board meetings, stressing the importance of concise and confident communication. She highlighted that hesitation in expressing ideas could hinder professional growth and encouraged students to work on eliminating such barriers.
