MATH QUEST 2.0
The School of Science, CHRIST University, Pune Lavasa Campus, successfully organized Math Quest 2.0 as part of the Pi Day celebrations on 22nd March 2025 at 6:00 PM. The event aimed to foster a love for mathematics among school students and encourage problem-solving skills in a competitive yet engaging environment.
The event commenced with a silent prayer, followed by a showcase of CHRIST University through a short video presentation. The video highlighted the university’s vision, academic excellence, and various initiatives that inspire young minds.
The quiz was open to students from Grades 9 to 12, attracting participants from various schools. The competition was structured into three challenging rounds, ensuring a fair and rigorous selection process.
In the first round, students answered 10 multiple-choice questions covering fundamental mathematical concepts. This round was conducted via Google forms, allowing for participation and instant evaluation. Based on their scores, the top 10 students advanced to the second round.
The second round increased the difficulty level, with 20 questions that tested students’ proficiency in calculus, trigonometry, algebra, and logical reasoning. This stage required not just accuracy but also speed, as the participants competed to secure a spot in the final round. After an intense battle of intellect, the top two scorers, Mr. Swasthik and Mr. Roger, moved on to the rapid-fire round.
The final round was a high-energy rapid-fire session, designed to test not only the contestants’ knowledge but also their ability to think quickly under pressure. In a thrilling conclusion, Mr. Roger outperformed his competitor and was declared the winner of MathQuiz 2.0. Mr. Swasthik secured the runner-up position after a commendable performance throughout the competition.
To recognize their achievements, the winner, Mr. Roger, was awarded a cash prize of ₹7,000, while the runner-up, Mr. Swasthik, received ₹3,000. Their dedication, analytical skills, and passion for mathematics were evident, making the competition an inspiring experience for all attendees.
The questions in the quiz covered a diverse range of topics, ensuring that students demonstrated a well-rounded understanding of mathematics. By integrating fundamental concepts with practical problem-solving scenarios, the event successfully challenged participants while making learning enjoyable.
The final concluding note was presented by Dr. Lian Mathew, Assistant Professor at the School of Science, who appreciated the students’ efforts and encouraged them to continue exploring the fascinating world of mathematics.
MathQuiz 2.0 was a success, offering an enriching and competitive experience for students. The event not only celebrated Pi Day but also emphasized the importance of mathematical literacy and analytical thinking. The enthusiasm and spirit of competition displayed by the participants were truly commendable, making this edition of MathQuiz a memorable one.
