Marketing Monks Inaugurals Report

Talk about fun in sales and marketing; the MBA Department of Christ (Deemed to be) University, Pune, Lavasa, has it all. The Marketing students started on the club inauguration of Marketing Monks in a fun-filled five-day activity session conducted and attended by the students and faculty. From time to time, Marketing Monks engages in intriguing activities. Four clans compete in the activities undertaken every week. The group encourages students to participate in activities that help them grow as Young Marketers by developing communication, leadership, organization, and teamwork skills.

The inaugurals started with the first group of Marketing Monks conducting games and club activities participated by the first semester students of MBA. Innovative games based on market brand names were played, which brought in a spirit of brainstorming and teamwork among the students.

Day two of the event started with an exciting quiz, "Wild Wild Guess," based on advertisements and movie scenes around marketing, followed by an exciting team game based on market products. The next activity brought out the creative side of the teams in preparing catchy and funny jingles for their product. The last round for the day tested the students based on their market skills to sell products in the most adverse situations given by the conductors. The day's activity ended with a task assigned to the team wherein they were asked to make an attractive poster and an Ad-reel for their product promoting it. They had to work round the clock to submit their work by the following day. The posters and reels created by the students are shared on the official Instagram account of Marketing Monks to promote the activities of the students.

The third day was filled with a thrilling and intriguing treasure hunt game in which students were divided into teams in a break-out session. Each team had to qualify each round to win the game. The rounds were innovative and challenging. The participants had to estimate the brand of an audio recording that was being played backward. They also had to locate a photograph that included a QR code. The last round was a 'Word Hunt,' in which they had to make a word from clues given by the host. The final phase of the day was a night task called 'Mad Hatters,' which was given to the contestants. Each team was given an odd product to sell (product placement) by replicating a scene from a movie. They had to work around the clock to submit their work by 8 a.m. the next day. Day 3 of Marketing Monks' pre-inaugural activities ended with the hosts and the participants having a fun-filled and exciting experience.

The Marketing Maestros team of the club started on day four of the event with BASH (Business Associate's Social Hour), followed by a creative round of Logo making competition between the groups. The day followed with a challenging game of movie guessing called "Try it out" and a jingle humming challenge for the teams, "Sing it back." "Festi-brand" was played based on brands and festivals, making students more acquainted with the general market awareness in a fun-filled way. The final round for the day turned out to be an interesting and refreshing one, "The I's have it." Clans were required to select two members and were given a topic to talk about, and the catch was that they were not allowed to utter the word "I" during the whole talk. It was difficult not to use the word "I" for issues where the first phrase usually begins with "I," such as "Your Favorite Food," and "Why Did You Choose MBA?" And there's more. It was the most entertaining round, with the ppts turned off and the cameras turned on, and not only the seniors but the juniors also enjoyed it.

The four-day streak of fun-filled activities of the Marketing Monk's club came to an end, with both juniors and seniors having a great time interacting and imparting knowledge. The tasks were not just for leisure but to bring out the students' creative and innovative selves and provide a gist of marketing.

The presence of Dr Fr Jossy P George - Director & Dean, Dr Fr Arun C Antony - Academic Coordinator and Dr Becky M Thomas - Coordinator, MBA graced the final day of the inaugurals. The faculty members and students from the School of Business & Management (MBA) were also present for the occasion. After a warm welcome, followed by a prayer song, the introductory video created by the students was presented. Further, Dr Fr Jossy P George and Dr Becky M Thomas addressed the crowd with their words of wisdom that radiated a source of energy within the students.

Mr Jobin Jacob - Head of Specialization, Marketing, MBA, announced the winning team of the four-day-long pre-inaugural activities. The inaugurals were the best time to look back at the significant competitions conducted by the club and appreciate the winners and participants. Winners of the 'Sales Championship 2021' and 'MAD ADs' were announced by Mr Stanny Dias and Dr Arti Aggrawal- faculty members, MBA, Marketing.

The club believes that the marketing job is never over; it must continue with perpetual motion and innovation every day. A glimpse of the future competitions and activities was presented to the club's new members hoping that the upcoming year would be much more fun-filled and fruitful. All these activities will have a touch of marketing to bring out the potential, build knowledge learning application of concepts and making the members better marketers. One of the essential parts of the club, 'IMPRIMERE,' the club newsletter, was introduced and designed by the editorial team. This newsletter marked the symbols of the club's achievements and memories. The event ended with a 'Vote of Thanks' to all the attendees for enriching the inaugural with their presence and support.
