Quiz Series Finale, Department of Data Science & WiBD Student Chapter

On the splendid occasion of World Literacy Day, the WiBD Student Chapter at CHRIST (Deemed to be University) Pune Lavasa Campus organized a 5-day Quiz Series from 1 September 2021 – 6 September 2021. It was exclusively crafted with questions on Big Data, Women Empowerment and WiBD Organization for the students of the Department of Data Science. The finale of the Quiz competition was conducted on 8 September 2021. 


The event started at 4:15 pm with 36 participants in the presence of Dr. Samiksha Shukla, HOD and Dr. Lija Jacob. Miss Arundhati Kolahal welcomed the audience to the programme and Miss Teres Augustine hosted the event.

The event was honored by Dr Fr Jossy P George who addressed the audience with his enthusiastic words for all the participants. Dr. Lija Jacob started the event by quoting Nelson Mandela on the event of International Literacy Day, “Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world”. 

The finale of the Quiz series was conducted live in Kahoot platform consisting of 7 rounds. The first 6 rounds had 5 questions each while the final round had 10 questions. The time limit to answer each question was 20 seconds. The rounds were amusing, it challenged the participants to an intellectual level at the same time was quite enjoyable. The questions consisted of guessing the missing parts in ‘Nursery Rhymes’, ‘Riddles’ to bemuse the participants, ‘Emoji Pictionary’ to challenge their thinking ability, ‘Guess the Gibberish’ to make their brains workout, ‘Guess the Personality’ to see how updated the participants are, ‘Guess the Tagline’ to see how well an observant the participants are. The final round which was a ‘General Knowledge’ round which tested the general knowledge of the students. 


At the end of the Quiz finale the total score determined the top three participants namely Arockia Rexi of 2nd Year MSc(DS) as the Winner, Ram Prathap of 2nd Year MSc(DS) as Runner Up and Vidhi Chaudhary of 1st Year MSc(DS) as Second Runner Up. 

Along with this event, a story writing competition was held on 5 September 2021, which was also open to students of Dasave School students. The competition was well received and  some enthralling stories were sent in. The prompt for the “Suddenly icy fingers grabbed my arm as I inched through the darkness”. The Winners of the Story Writing Competition were also announced and the three most unique and breathtaking stories were awarded.  Arockia Rexi of 2nd Year MSc(DS) was declared the Winner, with Jolinson Richi A of 1st Year MSc(DS) as the Runner Up and Ankana Mukhopadhyay of 2nd Year MSc(DS) as Second Runner Up. 

To conclude the event, Ms.Arundathi gave her vote of thanks to all the participants and congratulated the winners.
