“Designing Digital Solutions for Water Management”

CEBT – School of Business and Management has organized a national symposium on “Designing Digital Solutions for Water Management” on 21 August 2021. As we all know global warming is bringing about a rise in sea levels and increased flooding to some cities around the world, drought and water shortages to others. Water covers 70% of our planet, and it is easy to think that it will always be plentiful. However, freshwater—the stuff we drink, bathe in, irrigate our farm fields with—is incredibly rare. Only 3% of the world’s water is freshwater, and two-thirds of that is tucked away in frozen glaciers or otherwise unavailable for use. As a result, some 1.1 billion people worldwide lack access to water, and a total of 2.7 billion find water scarce for at least one month of the year. Increasingly we are looking at digital solutions to tackle the above-said problem. This symposium was organized to introduce various digital solutions implemented to solve water management problems to the participants. This symposium has covered the following areas
  •   Understand the significance of digital solutions to the Water Industry.
  •   Correlate the solutions with their region-specific problems.
  •   Generate new innovative solutions for problems using IoT and Machine Learning.

Eminent speakers from academia like Dr Atul Kumar Sahai (Scientist ‘G’ (Retired), Project Director-Monsoon Mission, IITM, Pune), Dr Amlan Chakrabarti(Head - Higher Education Innovation Cell, West Bengal Government and Professor -Calcutta University),Dr. Jyoti Gautam(Senior Member IWA - Associate Professor - JSS Academy of Technical Education) and industry Mr. Girish Khilari(CTO - Chairman-IEEE Pune Section & amp; Elliot Systems) has spoken on range of topics like Application of Artificial Intelligence in Monsoon Prediction, Water informatics and related case studies and Smart Water Management using IoT applications.
