OST Presentation Competition



The OST (Organisational Structure Training) Competition is held every year at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa campus where handpicked students from MBA first year present their learnings from their OST at different companies. The competition was held virtually this year on 25th September 2021 on WebEx at 2:00 PM.

The first-year students are expected to undergo OST at a manufacturing unit for a month before the official commencement of their MBA program. A student is free to identify a company of his/her choice.

The purpose is to introduce students to concepts like organizational structure, policies, and procedures of an organization so that they can understand the working of an organization and get insights into corporate life. After the completion of their OST, the students are required to prepare a comprehensive report under the guidance of their mentor. The comprehensive report includes information about the company like its mission, vision, policies, competitors, future plans for growth etc. The students prepare a presentation for his/her mentor and presents it after the commencement of the classes. Then each mentor selects the best mentee who competes with other mentees in the final competition.

Ms Irudaya Mary, Placement Officer, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa was the judge of the competition. The Judge asked various questions to all the participants on the basis of their presentation.

Sabari Majumdar was the first mentee to present her learnings from her OST. She worked at ASP Pvt  Ltd for the Organizational Structure Training. She gave a good amount of knowledge about the company and its product line. She explained the company’s organizational structure in a very broad manner with the proper functions of each department. She could analyze the structural weaknesses and also gave recommendations to overcome them.

Sivahari G had an incredible experience at Fertilizers and Chemicals Travancore Limited. He learned about the complexities of a business and how a small decision in a business is affected by multiple aspects. This also gave him a 360° clarity on how decisions are to be taken in a corporate setup. The OST enabled him to know more about the work culture in an organization.

Meghana S completed her Organizational Structure Training at Titan. She talked about the company’s product line and its entire journey of success. She also explained the organizational structure in a very crisp and informative manner. Her presentation skills were unique as she used video and audio clips to provide information. She also learned about various policies of the organisation.


Arathi Vinod chose Agrisoft Dairy and Agro Product Company Ltd for her Organizational Structure Training. She got to know about the working of a Joint Hindu Family business and who is the decision-maker in such type of businesses. She got insights about the working of a manufacturing organization. She understood the fact that each and every employee in the organization is of paramount importance. She could identify the weaknesses of the business and gave recommendations to overcome the same.

Deep Bhowmick did his OST at Alstom Industries Cement Plant. It is a subsidiary of Dalmia Cement Ltd. He visited various processing centers and learned the functioning of the organisation. He got information about the hierarchy followed by the company. He was highly impressed by the working style of the organization. He gained a lot of information that he considers can be useful in the near future when he starts working as a professional.

Hemanath Kumar's experience as an intern at MSN Group of Companies was very informative. He learned about various strategies and techniques followed in the company. Hemanath got a deep insight regarding the manufacturing process followed by the company. He was able to identify the structure of the organization and was able to perform a detailed SWOT analysis.

Mehak Sharma had a great learning experience at Sun Pharmaceuticals Industries Limited. She got hands-on experience regarding working of a multinational company and how an efficient organizational structure can contribute towards the success of an organization. She learned how R&D can make a business unique and set it apart from its competitors. She also learned about the company’s strategies of responding to uncertain situations like Covid-19.

The OST presentation proved that students were able to understand the working style of an organization, its organizational structure, and its policies and procedures very well. The winner of the competition was Mehak Sharma. Hemanath Kumar and Sivahari G were the runner-ups.
