Hindi Diwas

The School of Law, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus had organised a department level programme on Hindi Diwas on September 14, 2021. This day was celebrated to mark the importance of Hindi language in our lives, its development over time and its reducing importance and relevance in India today. The takeover by the English language and associated change of behaviour in people to feel ashamed to use Hindi was addressed by the students by the way of poems and speech. The students showcased their enthusiasm by expressing the value of Hindi in politics, democracy and other aspects of our country. The genesis of freedom of press in India after independence can be witnessed in various newspapers of national and international value.

The event was moderated by Ms Shreejee Chaudhary, student of 5 BALLB. She invited Dr Sunil John, Associate Professor, School of Law to give opening remarks and motivate students with his experience in usage of Hindi language. This was followed by a beautiful speech on Nationality and its relation with Hindi by Mr Shrey Sahai from 3 BA LLB. He also recited a self-written poem on Positivism and Motivation. Ms Samridhi Adhikary of 3 BA LLB recited a bold Hindi poem on the courageous soldiers of the nation and their invaluable contributions and sacrifices for the Nation. An encouraging and thoughtful adapted poem was presented by Mr Ujjwal Gupta of 1 BBA LLB. After this Ms Bhumika of 1 BBA LLB lightened up the audience by her satirical poem on how we seem to be influenced more by fashion today and often forget our roots and culture. The event was concluded by Mr Shubham Singh of 5 BA LLB by giving his speech on one self’s passion towards their mother tongue, the struggles for Hindi language during British Raj and motivation for youth to contribute to growth of Hindi language by its constant usage. The vote of thanks was extended by Ms Mehak Vohra, Assistant Professor, School of Law to Dr Fr Jossy P George, Director, Dr Fr Arun Anthony, Academic Coordinator and Dr Daisy Alexander, Head of the Department, School of Law for their constant support and provision of facilities to students and fellow faculty members to strive always. Special thanks to students for participating in the event and making it successful.
