Academic Orientation - Self Awareness & Class Synergy

The School of Science, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus, organized an academic orientation session on the theme “Self-Awareness & Class Synergy”. The session was conducted by Dr. Jibrael Jos, Associate Dean of CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus, on [insert date if available]. The event took place in the morning hours, beginning at 9:00 AM and concluding at 12:20 PM. It was designed as an engaging and interactive session, blending theoretical perspectives with practical activities that emphasised collaboration, teamwork, and self-discovery.

The session commenced with a warm welcome and an introductory address by Dr. Jibrael. He set the tone for the day by highlighting the importance of self-awareness as the foundation for personal growth and effective teamwork. In his opening remarks, he emphasized how the ability to understand oneself strengths, weaknesses, motivations, and emotional triggers plays a critical role in fostering positive interpersonal relationships, especially within a classroom or professional setting. His introduction inspired students to reflect upon their own personalities and opened up the path for the activities that followed.

A series of thoughtfully curated activities formed the core of the session. These included both group activities and individual exercises, all designed to encourage participation, collaboration, and reflection. The group activities primarily revolved around team-building exercises, where students were placed in dynamic situations requiring problem-solving, cooperation, and effective communication. These exercises demonstrated the essence of class synergy, showing how collective efforts often lead to more successful outcomes than isolated individual actions.

One of the key highlights was the way the activities promoted understanding teammates and embracing diverse perspectives. Students were encouraged to recognize that effective teamwork does not merely come from dividing tasks but from valuing different skills, ideas, and viewpoints that each team member brings to the table. This not only helped participants build trust among peers but also taught them the art of being supportive team players.

The individual activities, on the other hand, focused on enhancing self-awareness. Students were given opportunities to introspect, analyze their strengths, and identify areas for improvement. Through reflective tasks, they could better understand their role within a group and how their personal characterstics influence team dynamics. These activities also emphasized the importance of communication—not just speaking but also active listening—as a tool for building stronger connections within the class.

The session maintained a lively, engaging atmosphere throughout, with students enthusiastically participating in all exercises. It encouraged healthy interactions and helped create a stronger sense of belonging within the classroom environment. The activities struck a balance between fun and learning, ensuring that the students not only enjoyed themselves but also absorbed the underlying lessons about collaboration, mutual respect, and personal responsibility.

The session concluded with a reflection facilitated by Dr. Jibrael, where students shared their key takeaways. Many expressed that the experience helped them appreciate the value of teamwork and the importance of becoming more self-aware in academic as well as personal life.

The orientation session was fulfilling its objective of fostering self-awareness and building class synergy. It left students motivated, more connected to their peers, and better equipped to navigate the challenges of collaborative learning.
