Orienduction & Bridge Course 2025

The School of Business and Management (MBA) and the School of Humanities and Performing Arts at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus conducted a comprehensive Orientation and Bridge Course for the academic year 2025-26. The Orientation program was organized for both MBA and MA students, while the Bridge Course was designed exclusively for MA English with Digital Humanities students. These initiatives aimed to equip students with the academic, cultural, and personal resources necessary to thrive in university life.

The orientation program began with departmental and institutional sessions that introduced students to the university’s academic expectations, discipline-specific requirements, grooming standards, and examination procedures. Practical sessions on IT services and library resources familiarized students with essential tools for academic work and research. A significant highlight was the joint session held on 14th August, conducted by the Associate Dean, Dr. Jibrael Jos, with both MBA and MA students. Through interactive activities and engaging games, students were introduced to the university’s academic culture, values, and campus routines in an enjoyable and participative manner. This session encouraged active participation and fostered a sense of community among students from different academic disciplines.

The orientation also included sessions by the coordinators of CPCG, CCHS, and CAPS, where students were introduced to wellness initiatives, support systems, and extracurricular activities. These sessions provided students with access to various academic and personal development resources, helping them integrate smoothly into campus life.

The Bridge Course, conducted exclusively for MA English with Digital Humanities students, focused on academic readiness and creative expression. Foundational modules such as Language and Literature and Literature through the Ages aimed to strengthen students’ analytical, interpretive, and language skills while providing deeper insights into literary traditions. Additionally, sessions like The Basics of Digital Humanities (DH) and Digital Storytelling introduced students to modern research tools and innovative methods of narrative construction. These modules encouraged students to explore creative approaches to communication and problem-solving, which are vital for interdisciplinary academic pursuits.

The final day of the Bridge Course, held on 20th August, began with a Digital Storytelling session led by Dr. Sangeeta Jawla. Students explored narrative techniques using visual media such as paintings, learning how stories could be conveyed in creative formats. This was followed by an orientation on CLAN, a platform aimed at promoting Indian language diversity, cultural heritage, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Students also participated in Academic Skill Assessments and Diagnostic Assessments, including the VARK learning model, which helped identify individual learning preferences—Visual, Auditory, Reading/Writing, or Kinesthetic—and academic strengths. These assessments provided faculty with valuable insights to tailor instructional strategies to support students’ learning needs effectively. The sessions concluded with reflective discussions where students shared their key takeaways, interests, and learning goals, helping set the tone for the semester ahead.

In conclusion, the Orientation and Bridge Course effectively addressed the distinct needs of MBA and MA students. The joint orientation sessions fostered academic preparedness, community building, and confidence, while the bridge course for MA English with Digital Humanities offered targeted academic interventions and creative learning experiences. Together, these initiatives laid a strong foundation for holistic student development, encouraging collaboration, cultural appreciation, and lifelong learning.
