Alumni Interaction Session

The Department of Commerce, in collaboration with the Office of Alumni Engagement, organized a highly engaging Alumni Interaction Session on 30th August 2025 at 10:30 a.m. in Classroom No. 2210 for the 1st Year B.Com Financial Analytics students. The event was coordinated under the guidance of Dr. Mahesh Kumar T, with enthusiastic support from student volunteers who assisted in smooth facilitation of the program.

The primary objective of this interaction was to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world application by connecting students with alumni who have successfully transitioned into the professional world. Such initiatives are a crucial part of the department’s ongoing efforts to provide students with practical exposure, real-time insights, and inspiration for their future careers.

The invited speaker for the session was Ms. Krittika Bakshi, a proud alumna of the B.Com (2019–2022) batch, who is currently working as an Associate at Apex Group, Pune. Ms. Krittika brought with her a wealth of professional experience, having previously worked with Northern Trust, Youth India Foundation, and other reputed organizations. During her talk, she shared her personal and professional journey, highlighting the challenges and opportunities she encountered as she transitioned from student life to a corporate career.

She elaborated on the varied career opportunities in the field of finance, emphasizing how students could leverage their academic learning in practical contexts. She stressed the importance of acquiring industry-relevant skills, continuous upskilling, and maintaining adaptability in today’s rapidly evolving job market. Ms. Krittika also shared practical tips on professional etiquette, communication skills, and building a growth mindset – all of which are essential for excelling in the corporate world.

Aligned with the broader institutional goal of enhancing employability and skill development, this session offered students a deeper understanding of industry trends, workplace culture, and career pathways. The interaction also served as a platform for students to seek curriculum-related feedback, clarify their doubts about career planning, and learn about internship opportunities. Many students appreciated the motivational aspect of the session, as Ms. Krittika’s success story served as an inspiration for them to pursue their own goals with dedication and focus.

The outcomes of the event were significant and multifaceted. Apart from fostering stronger alumni–student bonds, the session inspired students through real success stories, reinforced the importance of networking, and showcased alumni as valuable mentors and career connectors. This engagement also highlighted the department’s commitment to building a robust alumni network that actively contributes to institutional growth.

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks, acknowledging Ms. Krittika’s valuable time, insights, and continued association with the institution. The Department of Commerce reaffirmed its commitment to meaningful alumni engagement, aligning with the vision of CHRIST (Deemed to be University) to create a vibrant academic ecosystem that nurtures holistic education, professional growth, and lifelong connections.

This session served as a reminder of the crucial role alumni play in guiding current students and shaping the department’s academic culture. By continuously facilitating such interactions, the Department of Commerce aims to inspire future cohorts, nurture career readiness, and build a legacy of excellence through active alumni participation.
