Freeze, Unfreeze, Refreeze for 2025 Batch BBA Students

On 11th September 2025 and 13th September 2025, the School of Business and Management (BBA), CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus, organized a two-day capacity-building programme titled “Freeze, Unfreeze, Refreeze” for the 2025 Batch of BBA students. The full-day sessions, conducted by Dr. Anil Reynold Dsouza, Associate Professor, School of Business & Management (MBA), were structured as intensive skill enhancement workshops focusing on developing core soft skills necessary for academic and professional growth.

The programme was conducted in two phases to ensure better engagement. Day 1, held on 11th September 2025, was exclusively for Sections A and B, while Day 2, on 13th September 2025, catered to Section C and Honours students. This structure allowed for personalized attention and active participation of all students, with a total of 155 participants benefitting from the initiative.

The session was built around the central philosophy of learning, unlearning, and relearning—aligned with Kurt Lewin’s change management model—making the title “Freeze, Unfreeze, Refreeze” both symbolic and practical. The workshops focused on five critical areas of soft skills: leadership, communication, teamwork and collaboration, creativity, and adaptability.

Throughout the day, students were spontaneously divided into groups and engaged in a series of carefully designed activities. These group-based tasks required them to brainstorm, coordinate, and present outcomes under time constraints, thereby encouraging leadership, effective communication, and collaborative problem-solving. Creativity was stimulated through challenges that demanded out-of-the-box solutions, while adaptability was tested by introducing sudden changes during tasks, compelling students to adjust strategies quickly.

What made the session unique was its experiential learning approach. Rather than relying on lectures, Dr. Dsouza emphasized “learning by doing,” where students not only performed tasks but also engaged in structured reflection discussions afterward. These reflective moments allowed students to connect their actions during activities to broader lessons about teamwork, accountability, and resilience in real-world scenarios.

A key highlight was how the sessions created opportunities for students to step outside their comfort zones. Many participants reported that they discovered hidden strengths in leadership and communication while also identifying areas requiring improvement. The supportive atmosphere encouraged even the quieter students to voice their ideas, building confidence and active engagement.

By the end of both days, the students had not only enhanced their awareness of essential soft skills but also developed greater self-confidence in applying them to academic projects, internships, and professional settings. The programme reinforced the School of Business and Management’s commitment to holistic development by integrating capacity-building initiatives into the curriculum.

Freeze, Unfreeze, Refreeze was a highly impactful initiative that blended creativity, collaboration, and reflection, leaving students better equipped to navigate the demands of both academic life and the corporate world. With enthusiastic participation from Sections A, B, C, and Honours students, the programme achieved its objective of enhancing student capacity in a practical, engaging, and memorable manner.
