The students assembled at Steaming Mugs Café at 10:00 AM, where they were briefed about the trek route, expected safety measures, and the importance of outdoor engagement for mental and physical well-being. After the orientation, the group departed for the trek at 11:00 AM, under the guidance of Mr. Tanmay Singh, student coordinator from Lavasa Trekkers, who ensured proper facilitation and safety throughout the event. The group of 19 enthusiastic students reached the designated waterfall point by 11:30 AM. The trail was scenic and filled with the freshness of the monsoon, with lush green trees, flowing water streams, and light showers of rain adding to the overall experience. The students spent an hour at the waterfall, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, enjoying the natural surroundings, sharing moments of bonding, and reflecting on the importance of nature in sustaining personal well-being. The trek concluded with the group returning to Steaming Mugs by 1:00 PM, marking the end of a short yet highly engaging experience.
The trek provided multiple learning and wellness outcomes for students. Physically, it encouraged fitness through trekking activities, which directly supports SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) by promoting active lifestyles, reducing sedentary behavior, and improving cardiovascular health. Mentally, the experience in nature created a sense of rejuvenation, stress relief, and emotional balance—factors critical for student well-being in the midst of academic pressures. Socially, the trek promoted peer bonding and teamwork as students supported each other throughout the trail, thereby strengthening community spirit and interpersonal relationships within the class.
Further, the trek highlighted the importance of sustainable practices, as students were encouraged to respect natural ecosystems, avoid littering, and appreciate biodiversity. The exposure to clean and green natural surroundings reinforced the concept that human health is deeply connected with environmental health—an essential dimension of SDG 3. Overall, the trek served as an experiential platform that extended beyond academics to focus on student wellness and sustainability. It offered a meaningful balance of physical activity, mental relaxation, and social bonding, all of which contribute to holistic education.
The School of Business & Management, through such initiatives, continues to emphasize not only intellectual development but also the physical and emotional growth of students. The collaboration with Lavasa Trekkers added a professional touch to the activity, ensuring safety and structure. The students expressed their appreciation for the event and shared that such activities help them feel more connected to both their peers and the environment. The trek thus successfully met its objectives, aligning academic life with sustainable well-being practices and the values of the global sustainable development agenda.
