CAPS Induction Session
The Centre for Academic and Professional Support (CAPS) organized its Volunteer Induction Session for the year 2025 on 13th September at 1:30 PM in the Smart Room, Central Block. The session served as the formal introduction of new applicants to the vision, objectives, and functioning of CAPS, while also highlighting the immense opportunities and responsibilities attached to being part of the organization. The event brought together enthusiastic student applicants, faculty coordinators, and senior members of CAPS in an interactive and engaging format.
The primary objective of the induction was to bridge the knowledge gap for students who may have been unfamiliar with the scope of CAPS. By participating in the session, students gained clarity on the purpose of the centre, which is to provide academic mentoring, professional guidance, and platforms for leadership development. Through presentations and interactive discussions, facilitators emphasized how CAPS contributes to the holistic growth of students and supports them in building skills that extend beyond the classroom.
The session opened with a warm welcome and a brief introduction to CAPS’s mission of nurturing potential and preparing students for the challenges of academic and professional life. This was followed by an orientation on the different initiatives CAPS has consistently undertaken, such as workshops, training programs, peer-to-peer support, and industry engagement. The facilitators also explained how CAPS bridges the gap between academic learning and practical application by equipping students with tools to succeed in both higher education and professional careers.
One of the highlights of the induction was the detailed explanation of the benefits of volunteering. Students were introduced to the wide range of opportunities CAPS offers, including improving communication skills, refining leadership qualities, enhancing organizational abilities, and gaining industry exposure. The induction also emphasized the culture of mentorship within CAPS, where volunteers not only grow individually but also play a role in supporting the development of their peers. The format of the session was deliberately interactive. Students were encouraged to ask questions about their roles, responsibilities, and expectations as future volunteers. Facilitators responded with practical examples of how volunteers had previously contributed to CAPS initiatives, thereby reinforcing the value of active participation. The space created for open dialogue helped students feel a sense of belonging and provided them with the confidence to commit themselves wholeheartedly to the volunteering journey.
In addition to introducing roles and responsibilities, the induction highlighted the broader philosophy of CAPS: creating an environment where students evolve into professionals ready to face the world. The facilitators made it clear that volunteering is not limited to short-term engagement but is also a stepping stone to long-term growth, providing experiences that will benefit students in their careers.
By the conclusion of the induction, applicants left with a clear understanding of CAPS’s purpose and with enthusiasm to contribute meaningfully to its activities. The session was successful in inspiring commitment among the new batch of volunteers, setting a strong foundation for the upcoming academic year. Overall, the Volunteer Induction 2025 underscored CAPS’s ongoing commitment to student empowerment, professional preparedness, and community building
