Inauguration of Cufflinksia, Pune Chapter

The Department of Commerce, School of Commerce, Finance and Accountancy, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus, formally inaugurated the CUFFLINKSIA Pune Chapter on 17 September 2026. The inauguration marked the establishment of a new student-led platform dedicated to strengthening engagement with the insurance sector and promoting greater interaction between students and industry.

The inaugural ceremony was held in the presence of Rev. Fr. Lijo Thomas, Dean and Director, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus; Dr. Parmeswaran S., Associate Dean; and Dr. Manjari Sharma, Head, Department of Commerce. The programme was also graced by Mr. Senthil Kumar, Vice President – Human Resources, HDFC Life, and Mr. Jossy Peter Muttath, Insurance Coordinator and Facilitator. The presence of the University leadership, faculty members, industry representatives, and students added significance to the formal launch of the Chapter.

The programme commenced with a formal welcome to the dignitaries, guests, faculty members, and students gathered for the occasion. The inauguration introduced the audience to the purpose and vision of CUFFLINKSIA and highlighted the role that the Pune Chapter seeks to play within the Department of Commerce. The Chapter aims to create a structured platform through which students can develop greater awareness of the insurance sector, participate in industry-oriented activities, and engage with professionals from the field.

The inaugural session highlighted the importance of creating opportunities for students to connect academic learning with developments in the insurance industry. The guests shared their perspectives with the gathering and emphasised the value of professional exposure, industry interaction, and student participation in preparing young learners for the evolving professional environment.

A significant part of the ceremony was the formal induction of the student leadership team of the CUFFLINKSIA Pune Chapter. The eight inducted members were Rishabh Nimbargi as Head, Sushant Kumar as Co-Head, and Arva Devidas Dumbre, Siya Sobti, Priyal Ghirnikar, Syed Ghayur Abbas, Aayushi Umesh Patil, and Khem Naryan Tiwari as members. The newly inducted team was entrusted with the responsibility of taking forward the vision and objectives of the Chapter and contributing to its effective functioning throughout the academic year.

The inauguration also provided an opportunity to outline the broader direction of CUFFLINKSIA and the manner in which the Chapter intends to engage students. With an emphasis on industry interaction, professional exposure, leadership, teamwork, and student participation, the Pune Chapter seeks to develop into an active platform for engagement with the insurance sector.

The establishment of the CUFFLINKSIA Pune Chapter represents an important addition to the initiatives of the Department of Commerce. It brings together institutional leadership, faculty members, students, and industry professionals on a common platform centred on learning, engagement, and professional development.

The inaugural ceremony marked the beginning of the Chapter’s journey at CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Pune Lavasa Campus, with the commitment to encourage meaningful student participation and strengthen connections between academic learning and the insurance industry. The Chapter also looks forward to sustained engagement and collaboration.
